The Anglo-Asian Odontological Group (AOG) held its glamorous Annual Ball on Saturday 4 November 2006 at the Hyatt Regency London. Dentists attended a sparkling drinks reception at 7pm followed by delightful Indian cuisine and entertainment including Indian music and a charity raffle with prizes sponsored by Dental Directory with all proceeds going towards the Mouth Cancer Foundation. The raffle helped raise over £1,000 towards the Mouth Cancer Walk that took place on Sunday 19 November 2006 organised by the Mouth Cancer Foundation in a grand finale to Mouth Cancer Awareness Week. Hundreds of people from all across the country turned out to support a Free 10K sponsored walk in London's Hyde Park. The AOG was a Silver Sponsor of the Walk and its AOG Journal which goes out to all of its members included a full page advert for the Walk and covered an article on Mouth Cancer Awareness by Dr Vinod Joshi, Founder of the Mouth Cancer Foundation. Dr Joshi said, The Mouth Cancer Foundation is extremely grateful to the AOG. Raising awareness among the Asian dental profession about the dangers of paan and gutka chewing is especially important. Photos of the walk are available at www.mouthcancerwalk.org/photos President of the AOG, Dr Rishi Mehrotra said, Our efforts to promote good practice, our involvement in charities both at home and abroad, and our efforts in doing good within our profession is what makes our society unique.
