December’s Government budget cuts have effectively removed access to subsidised and free treatment for patients and payments to dentists from the PRSI scheme have been slashed by 80%, resulting in what the Chief Executive of the IDA called 'an unmitigated disaster' for both dentists and patients.

The main concern of dentists is that such cuts will discourage attendance for routine appointments and oral hygiene visits will suffer.
