The A-Dec way...Simon Baxter, sales & marketing manager for A-dec, invited Dentistry magazine to the company's office in Nuneaton. Tom Roberts reports:
A-dec has become one of the world's largest dental equipment companies, offering dental chairs, stools, delivery systems, dental lights, cabinetry and a full line of dental accessories.
A-dec's primary focus is to create equipment innovations, simple solutions and superior services that deliver value to the customer and help dentists to perform healthier and more efficient dentistry - a mission the company has adhered to since it began.
A-dec in the UK
The UK headquarters opened in 1985 and distributes equipment via a network of authorised dealer specialists operating in the UK and Ireland.
A-dec's Nuneaton offices are a personification of the company; welcoming and modern with high quality design features. The reception area leads to the fantastic large open plan showroom, which is highly specified with the complete range of all A-dec's products.
I was given a tour of the showroom and was even able to sit in an A-dec 500 chair so I could appreciate first hand just how comfortable this remarkably stylish chair is - and I must say how impressed I was.

The A-dec 500 chair has raised the bar in terms of aesthetics, ergonomics, accessibility and patient comfort. I don’t believe there is any other chair available quite like it anywhere in the dental market today. All of our latest chairs are ambidextrous with delivery systems to suit any user.
The Nurses 545 treatment console places the nurses’ instrumentation right where they need it, along with a a highly flexible round rotating work surface.
Although we are still a family run company we manufacure and supply in excess of 15,000 dental units a year, which makes us one of the largest dental equipment manufacturers of chairs in the world.

Motivated team
Simon was keen to show us around the rest of the A-dec facility. We took a brief stop in the warehouse where often up to 50 packages are in stock ready for delivery and installation. Simon explained,
"Our goal is to never let the customer down and we are always looking to exceed expectations. We will endeavour to do what ever it takes to deliver the highest levels of customer satisfaction."
Whilst walking round and chatting with some members of the A-dec team I was struck by the friendly attitude and motivated approach that everyone seemed to have and it was something that Simon was quick to pick up on,
"One of the things we are particularly proud of is the great team spirit that we have here at A-dec. Every member of the team is highly motivated and although at times it can be challenging, we all share a great sense of fun and passion for doing the right thing and paying attention to the needs of the customer.”
Future growth
As a final thought we touched on A-dec's business growth over the last couple of years. Simon said
“The growth we have enjoyed in recent years is absolutely tremendous and it is all down to the hard work of our employees and our authorised dealer partners.
With more and more dental professionals investing in their practices there has never been a better time to be in the dental industry and I am confident that A-dec will go from strength to strength, as we continually strive to develop and improve upon our products and services for the benefit of the whole dental team."
A-dec has worked hard to make a name for itself as a company that works to fulfil the needs of its customers as efficiently and intelligently as possible. The results and development of its business is testament to that. |
