Italian television continues to focus on one of its longest-lasting formats capable of reinventing itself season after season. In fact, from Tuesday 17 March the Big Brother VIPwhich inaugurates a new edition with a host that promises rhythm, irony and inevitable television sparks.
He will be at the helm of the reality show Ilary Blasia now familiar face for the program’s audience and central figure of a season that promises to be built around the dynamics of the House and the characters of the contestants. Alongside her, in the role of commentators, are two very different personalities but both highly recognizable in the Italian media panorama: the journalist Cesara Buonamici and the commentator and writer Selvaggia Lucarelli.
A renovated house and a heterogeneous cast
As per the tradition of the format produced by Endemol Shine Italy, at the center of the story there will be the competitors called to live together under the constant gaze of the cameras. Sixteen protagonists ready to enter the game and test themselves between forced coexistence, trials and inevitable alliances. The objective remains the one that has always defined the identity of the program: observing the characters, strategies and fragility of a group of people forced to share the same space.
The edition kicks off with a small prologue already staged in the previous days. In fact, on Friday 13 March, the House opened its doors with the initiative Open House on Mediaset Infinity, welcoming the first competitors and registering strong online interest: over one million users and more than 2.6 million views on the web.

The adventure was inaugurated by Adriana Volpe, Raul Dumitras, Ibiza Altea and Renato Biancardithe first protagonists of the new season. They will be joined by the rest of the cast composed of Francesca Manzini, Marco Berry, Alessandra Mussolini, Raimondo Todaro, Giovanni Calvario, Dario Cassini, Paola Caruso, Nicolò Brigante, Antonella Elia, Barbara Prezia, Lucia Ilardo and GionnyScandal.
A deliberately heterogeneous group, as per reality TV tradition, built by mixing faces from entertainment, television and pop culture, called to compete in a context that has continued to function as a sort of television laboratory of human relations for over twenty years.
The return of the great Canale 5 reality show
The new season of Big Brother VIP will officially start on Tuesday 17 March in prime time on Canale 5, with a second appointment already set for Friday 20 March.
What changes is not only the cast but also the House, completely renovated for this edition and designed to offer new gameplay dynamics. As always, the public will continue to be an integral part of the story, intervening in the decisions that will mark the fate of the competitors.
For a format that, season after season, continues to move between entertainment, social observation and pop culture, the challenge remains the same: to tell – through the coexistence and emotions of the protagonists – a small portion of contemporary society transformed into television.
