the Dap Festival celebrates 10 years of dance and sculpture

From 27 June to 11 July the Dap Festival returns to Pietrasanta: 14 international shows and immersive dance at the Mitoraj Museum for the tenth anniversary.

The white silence of Pietrasanta marble is about to be interrupted by the rhythmic beat of contemporary dance. It is not a simple exhibition, but a peaceful invasion which for ten years has transformed the squares, cloisters and galleries of the Little Athens on an open-air stage. The Dap Festival – Dance in Art in Pietrasantablows out ten candles this year, consolidating a marriage between sculptural plasticity and movement that has no equal in the Italian dance scene.

From 27 June to 11 July 2026, the city is preparing to become the center of gravity of a close dialogue between the immobility of the stone and the fleetingness of the gesture. “Pietrasanta is preparing to welcome the tenth edition of Dap Festival”, confirming itself as one of the main Italian events dedicated to contemporary dance in dialogue with the visual arts and urban space. Under the artistic direction of Adria Ferrali and the executive one of Sara Tartagliathe event celebrates ten years of activity “strengthening its international vocation and the ability to bring together great protagonists of international dance and new generations of artists”.

The dialogue between architecture and artistic gesture

The program offers a program of 14 shows involving companies and performers from Europe, the United States and Africa. The heart of this edition beats inside the Mitoraj Museumwhere the collaboration with the Bellanda Company will give life to a work that intertwines art, body and memory “inspired by the sculpture ‘Bocca di Rocca Bianca’ by the Polish master”. It is an immersive experience that combines a visit to the museum and dance, transforming the static nature of the work into choreographic dynamism.

Alongside its spectacular dimension, the festival maintains its pedagogical vocation. “The beating heart of the Dap Festival are its locations, which become an integral part of the artistic creation”, from the Cloister of Sant’Agostino to the Great Stage of the Versiliana. In these symbolic places, which are transformed into living scenarios, the Dap College welcomes students and academic institutions, offering dancers the opportunity “to access a rich offer of scholarships”.

The so-called Invasion Dances they will bring the performers to inhabit everyday places, animating squares and public spaces with widespread interventions. Among the protagonists are masters such as Virgilio Sieni And Michele Merolaas well as soloists fromOpéra National de Paris and from Royal Danish Ballet. The Dap Festival thus confirms itself as a unique experience, “an open-air creative laboratory, where live entertainment meets artistic and architectural heritage”, celebrating a decade of creativity and global vision.
