“A Night’s Tale” arrives on Canale 5 from 12 April: plot, cast and all the details on the new Turkish series with Burak Deniz
In the Italian television schedule, Turkish series are no longer an exotic parenthesis, but a stable presence, built with an increasingly precise logic. Canale 5 knows this well and continues to push on a genre that in recent years has demonstrated a rare ability: to build audience loyalty episode after episode, transforming seriality into an almost ritual appointment.
It is in this context that it arrives “A Night’s Tale”Italian title of Bir Gece Masalıa new Turkish production chosen for prime time starting from April 12th. Not an experiment, but a piece of a now consolidated strategy.
The plot: revenge, love and an impossible bond
The series moves on a very precise narrative balance: that between thriller and psychological melodrama, two registers that coexist naturally in Turkish films.
The protagonist is Mahir Yilmaza police inspector who returns to his hometown after twenty years with a clear objective: to come to terms with the past and seek the truth about his father’s death. A return that has nothing nostalgic about it, but is immediately filled with tension.
The story takes an unexpected direction when Mahir falls in love with Canfeza Kilimci. The point is that Canfeza is not just the woman who comes into his life: she is the daughter of the man who may be involved in her father’s murder. From here a central narrative fracture opens up, which transforms revenge into something much more complex, almost unmanageable.
The cast: faces already recognizable even for the Italian public
Playing Mahir is Burak Denizone of the most recognizable actors of contemporary Turkish seriality, already known in Italy for his participation in Another Love. His presence is not only an element of appeal, but a guarantee of continuity for those audiences who have already learned to recognize his acting language.
Next to him, in the role of Canfeza, there is About Burcu Yazgı Coşkuna face that many Italian viewers associate with the series The strength of a womanwhere he played Nisan. A casting that plays on an already built familiarity, a key element to facilitate the series’ entry into the Italian market.
They complete the picture Gurkan Uygun as Kürşat Kilimci, a powerful businessman and central figure in the power system of the story, Eren Vurdem in the role of Selim Allame, e Mesut Akusta who plays Raşit Kara, a reference figure for Mahir.
Because “Stone of a Night” can really work
The point is not just the plot, but the way it is constructed. Turkish dizi work when they manage to keep multiple levels together: narrative tension, family conflicts, power dynamics and romantic relationships that are never linear.
“A Night’s Tale” seems to move exactly in this direction. It is not just a story of revenge, but a story that works on memory, on emotional legacies and on how the past continues to influence the present.
In an increasingly competitive schedule, Canale 5 is once again focusing on a formula that has already proven to have a hold on the Italian public. The real question, however, is not whether it will work, but how much it will manage to enter the viewers’ routine. Because it is there, and only there, that a series stops being a novelty and becomes a phenomenon.
