Formula 1 is back after a month’s stop due to the conflict in the Middle East and the cancellation of the grand prix in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. We start again from Miami and in the first hour and a half of free practice, between fast laps and race simulations, the best time was Charles Leclerc in the Ferrari SF-26 but then in the Sprint tests the Mc Larens returned, with Plates who achieves the best time e Antonelli who with a great lap is second ahead of the world champion Lando Norris with the other Mc Laren. «It was a messy session – said Antonelli, then I put on the soft tires and the car came to life. A great recovery made together with the team». Ferrari moves from the enthusiasm of the hour and a half of testing to a reflection on how much the changes made by the Maranello mechanics to the Red have produced. This is certainly a completely new Formula 1, with many teams that can win and unpredictable reversals within the same day. Look at the Mercedes: the “silver arrows” in free practice they had big problems: Antonelli after being in front of everyone for a long time he had to give up on the final round. From Mercedes they explain that there was an anomaly on Antonelli’s engine, there was no time to resolve it before the end of the session. It didn’t get any better George Russell, English he didn’t find the setupmade some changes that further complicated the balance. He then returned to the track with qualifying tyres, but was unable to improve. And in the Sprint tests he made a small step forward, finishing sixth fastest Lewis Hamilton.
Ferrari through ups and downs
Charles Leclerc he had started the first day well: in addition to the best time in free practice, he clocked up 29, a high number of laps. He seems to have found confidence in the evolved Ferrari, but also Lewis Hamilton is in top positions. However, the Monegasque was disappointed with the lap that gave him fourth place in qualifying for the Sprint: “I had a horrendous ride.” As mentioned, McLaren is back as a protagonist and after some difficulties in free practice it obtained pole Oscar Piastri and third place with Lando Norris in the Sprint tests. Also Max Verstappen he’s back as a protagonist. The Dutchman’s Red Bull was one of the positive surprises, even if the car is not yet perfect: one of the problems of the blue single-seater is the chassis, because the engine is said to work very well. But the innovation introduced in Miami by Red Bull with the macarena in a different version than the one used by Ferrari seems to have given good results, bringing Max back to the highest levels after the anonymity of the first three grands prix. His fifth time in the Sprint tests proves it.
