INPS, deadline of 30 June for the Single Allowance: those who do not update the ISEE lose up to 582 euros per child

The DSU must be submitted by the end of the month to obtain the recalculation of the allowance and recover the arrears from March 2026. After the deadline, the sums will no longer be recoverable. How to do it

There is a deadline that millions of families risk missing, with economic damage that can exceed 580 euros for each child. By 30 June 2026, those who receive the Single and Universal Allowance must update their ISEE by submitting the Single Self-Declaration to INPSthe so-called DSU. Anyone who does not do so by that date will continue to receive the check, but with the minimum amount required by law. More importantly, he will permanently lose the right to recover accrued arrears from March 2026.

What happened from March to today

The Single and Universal Allowance does not require a new application every year: families continue to receive it automatically. But the amount for each family depends on the ISEE. The ordinary deadline for submitting it was February 28th. Those who did not do so by that date continued to receive the allowance, but starting from March the INPS stopped calculating the personalized amount and automatically paid the legal minimum: 58.30 euros per month for each minor child. An identical amount for everyone, regardless of how much the family earns. A family with an ISEE of 15 thousand euros who has not submitted the updated ISEE is now receiving a Single Allowance equal to those with an ISEE of 46 thousand euros. Not because you are not entitled to a higher allowance, but simply because the INPS, in the absence of updated data, cannot calculate how much you are really entitled to. Simply submit the DSU to correct the situation, but only until June 30th.

Deadline of 30 June 2026: what you lose if you don’t update your ISEE for the Single Allowance

The maximum amount of the Single Allowance for a minor child, reserved for families with an ISEE of less than 17,468 euros, is 203.80 euros per month. Those who receive the minimum amount stop at 58.30 euros. The monthly difference is 145.50 euros for each child. Multiplied by four months, from March to June, this amounts to 582 euros in arrears for each minor child. For a family with two children it means over 1,160 euros which risk being lost forever. Added to this are the increases for children from the third age onwards, which can be worth from 17 to 99 euros per month each, and the amounts for adult children up to 20 years of age, which fluctuate between 29 and 99 euros per month. In some family situations the total arrears at stake can well exceed 2 thousand euros.

June 30th is a deadline without appeal for submitting the ISEE to INPS

June 30th is a non-extendable deadline. After that date, those who have not submitted the DSU will still be able to update the ISEE in the following months and in that case the amount of the check will once again be calculated correctly. But the arrears of the previous months will be permanently lost. No adjustment, no possibility of retroactive recovery. Those who present the DSU by June 30, however, will obtain the recalculation of the check based on the real economic situation, the payment of the arrears from March and the adjustment of the difference between what has already been collected and what was actually due. All without having to ask any further questions: the update is automatic.

How to update your ISEE: SPID or CAF, two ways within everyone’s reach

To update your ISEE, simply present the DSU. Those who have the SPID, the Electronic Identity Card or the National Services Card can directly access the INPS portal and fill in the pre-compiled DSU: the system automatically loads a large part of the data already present in the public databases, such as the income declared to the tax authorities. Once you have verified that the information is correct, simply submit the declaration. Processing typically takes between eight and ten business days, at the end of which the ISEE is updated and the check is adjusted accordingly. Otherwise you can get help from a Caf or patronage.
