Kate Middleton at the Order of the Garter 2026: the detail that thrilled everyone

For the Order of the Garter 2026, the Princess of Wales chose an elegant honey-colored look, but it was the earrings she wore on her wedding day with Prince William that moved her.

Among the many unwritten rules of the British monarchy there is one that Kate Middleton has mastered to perfection for years: using fashion to tell a story. It happened once again during the Order of the Garter, one of the oldest and most solemn ceremonies in the royal calendar, where the Princess of Wales attended, choosing an elegant look full of personal meaning.

Kate wore a refined honey-toned ensemble by Patrick McDowell, completed with a matching hat and carefully selected accessories. An impeccable appearance, as per tradition, which however hid a detail capable of immediately attracting the attention of royal observers.

In fact, the earrings chosen for the occasion made the look particularly special. It was not a new jewel nor a piece belonging to the royal collection, but the same earrings worn on 29 April 2011 on her wedding day with Prince William.

Designed by the Robinson Pelham maison and given as a gift by parents Carole and Michael Middleton for the wedding, the earrings are decorated with diamonds that recall the oak leaves and acorns present in the Middleton family coat of arms. A jewel with a strong sentimental value that Kate shows off only rarely and almost always on particularly significant occasions.

The reference to their personal history takes on an even deeper meaning when considering the couple’s connection to the Order of the Garter. It was during this celebration that Kate participated in one of her first public appearances alongside William in 2008, when their engagement had not yet been officially announced.
