Prime Day Festival is part of «Amazon Destinazione Sud», a set of initiatives designed for the regions of Southern Italy with the aim of creating new opportunities for customers, businesses and local communities
Today, in the evocative setting of the Foro Italico in Palermo, at the Nauto, Amazon kicks off the Prime Day Festival, three days of entertainment and activities open to the public, until Sunday 21 June. The festival anticipates the twelfth edition of Prime Day, Amazon’s annual offers event exclusively for Prime customers, which returns from 23 to 26 June.
This year, Prime Day Festival transforms the famous Nauto venue in Palermo into a Prime village open every day from 5.30pm to 11.30pm, for free and open accesswhere visitors will be able to explore different thematic areas: a space dedicated to Prime Day offers and Prime benefits; an area that celebrates Made in Italy, where you can discover the local excellence created by small and medium-sized Sicilian businesses that make their products available on Amazon.it; an area dedicated to everyday products, ideal for the daily needs of the whole family; the Amazon Haul space, where you can discover thousands of products at ultra-affordable prices; the Alexa+ area, to try the new personal assistant based on artificial intelligence and Amazon devices; the Prime Match area, with Prime-branded board games; and, finally, the Prime Photo Booth, to take souvenir photos with a sea view to share on social media with the hashtag #PrimeDayFestival.
The Prime Day Festival program
The space will come alive with live music, literary meetings and DJ sets: three evenings of programming that bring leading authors to the Nauto stage and an exceptional live show. Participation in all events is free while places last:
• Friday 19 June, 7.00 pm – Alec Ross presents his latest book The Italian Dream – Taking back the future (Feltrinelli). Innovation expert, former advisor to Hillary Clinton for the US State Department, Ross shares his vision of our country’s potential and the opportunities to be seized for the future.
• Friday 19 June, 8.30 pm – Antonio Manzini presents Rocco Schiavone’s sandwiches. Writer, actor and author of one of the most beloved characters in contemporary Italian fiction, Manzini brings the cutting irony and disenchanted humanity of deputy commissioner Rocco Schiavone.
• Saturday 20 June, 10.00 pm – Davide Shorty live. The singer-songwriter, rapper and producer from Palermo with a strong international identity will bring a vibrant and engaging musical journey to the stage with his unique style that blends soul, funk, jazz and hip hop.
• Sunday 21 June, 7.00 pm – Milena Palminteri presents Like bitter orangeor. The Palermo writer tells stories rooted in her land with intense and poetic prose, intertwining memory, identity and the unmistakable scent of Sicily.
Amazon Destination South
Prime Day Festival is part of «Amazon Destination South», a set of initiatives designed for the regions of Southern Italy. The project includes: incentives dedicated to new SMEs in the South, with a credit on referral commissions of up to €500 for those who offer their products in the Made in Italy showcase; digital training programs on artificial intelligence, coding and STEM skills for businesses, teachers and students, in collaboration with partners such as ICE, Develhope and Code.org; the contribution to the development of seven solar projects in Sicily, including two already active agrivoltaic parks, in line with the objective of achieving zero net CO₂ emissions by 2040; the expansion of the “Pay in Cash” service, available in over 12,000 points of sale in the South; and the strengthening of the network of collection points, also in collaboration with local partners, for an increasingly convenient and safe delivery experience.
