From Spiderman to Telemachus, the actor plays the son of Ulysses in the film of the year soon to be released in theaters. Here he is on the set of Favignana, his Ithaca, intent on preparing a fight scene. And in the meantime he tells his point of view on Nolan
The Castle of Santa Caterinain Favignana, on a spur of rock overlooking the sea, has become the royal palace of Ithaca for Christopher Nolan and his Odyssey. At the cinema from 16 July, it is the film of the year, surrounded by a crackling aura of anticipation and wonder. With a Hollywood cast of major events.
If Matt Damon is the Homeric protagonist with the “multiform intelligence”, Tom Holland instead he plays Telemachus, the son from whom Ulysses had to leave when he was little more than a newborn, due to the Trojan War which claimed him. Now an adult, disappointed by his father’s continued absence even though the conflict is over, Telemachus is a young man torn between the responsibilities of heir to the throne and the heavy shadow of a hero parent he has never known.
In this exclusive videowhich contains scenes from Odyssey and behind the scenes of the film, Tom Holland talks about preparing for the fight with his mentor. And he reveals his vision of Nolan: «Most directors would say: “Great, let’s shoot it”. Instead Chris tries to understand why it’s great.”
Here is the exclusive video of Odyssey with the interview with Tom Holland and behind the scenes:
In Odyssey mother Penelope is embodied by Anne Hathaway. Robert Pattinson it is instead Antinous, the most insidious of the suitors who aim for the throne in the absence of Ulysses. ZendayaTom Holland’s partner and wife, is in the role of the goddess Athena, while Lupita Nyong’o it is Helen of Troy, from which everything started, and Charlize Theron the persuasive Calypso.
From one crowd-pleasing film to another, we’ll soon see Tom Holland again. In fact, he put his Marvel superhero suit back on Spider-Man: Brand New Daywhich will be released in Italian cinemas on 29 July. And Zendaya will be next to us again, of course.
