Catharsis, the new psychological thriller narrated by Pia Lanciotti, available on Audible

Available on Audible from 20 July, the new Original Book by Valentina Cambi is a journey through space, time and above all within oneself, on the trail of the “catharsis” that gives the story its title.

Catharsis. A word that has its roots in ancient Greece, where tragic theater used stage fiction to free the viewer from their deepest fearsthrough the pity and terror felt together with the characters. Over time the term has entered the language of psychology, where it indicates the process of emotional liberation that takes place when a repressed memory, a buried trauma, finally comes back to light and can be faced, processed and overcome.

It is no coincidence that “Katharsis” is the name of the television program hosted by Julie Crossthe protagonist of the new Original Book Of Audible: a psychologist who helps others to come to terms with their past, without knowing that she herself will soon be forced to follow the same path, to free herself from a secret that she has tried to keep buried for thirty years.

Written by the author and screenwriter Valentina Cambi and narrated by the intense voice of Pia Lanciotti (Mare Fuori, La dea Fortuna, Circeo), Catarsi is a high-voltage psychological thriller, divided into 16 chapters of 30 minutes each, in which the border between good and evil, between victim and executioner, becomes increasingly thinner, almost to the point of dissolving.

At the heart of the story is. as mentioned, Julie Cross, established psychologist and face of the television program Katharsis. The protagonist leads a carefully constructed, seemingly perfect life, which cracks the moment a anonymous message threatens to bring to light a secret buried for almost thirty years.

To find out who is blackmailing her, Julie will be forced to return exactly where she no longer wanted to return: to the places of a summer that she spent her entire life trying to forget. From Milan to the Tuscan villages, the scenery of that distant summer, up to Norway, a crucial stage in putting together the pieces that link past and present, his journey through space is intertwined with a journey through time, between eighteen years full of promises and a present full of unanswered questions and twists.

Catharsis, however, is also a story about relationships between womenin their infinite nuances, mothers, daughters, friends, allies, rivals, victims and executioners, all in their own way, which intertwine here without ever simplifying.

Giving voice to the story is, as mentioned, Pia Lanciotti, who chose to approach the text as she has always done, that is, reading at first sight, without knowing what will happen, to discover it together with the listener, chapter after chapter, without a net and without warnings.

A thriller to listen to with bated breath, for those who love stories that delve into the past to understand who we have become today. Catharsis is available on Audible.it.
