We tested this smartphone with an 8,340 mAh battery, 67W charging and certified resistance to falls and water. The Redmi Note 17 Pro enters the medium segment with flagship specifications and aggressive prices, but above all with exaggerated autonomy.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro has a paradoxical problem: it makes you check your phone more often, not less. Not for notifications, not for social anxiety. You watch it because you don’t believe it. The battery drops two percentage points after an hour of GPS navigation, three videos on TikTok and a WhatsApp call, and the instinctive reaction is to think that the meter has jammed.
It’s not like that. It’s simply thanks to an 8,340 mAh batteryone of the most capacious on the market, combined with consumption management that makes not only those who experience Asia badly due to disconnection breathe a sigh of relief.
A true game changer
On paper, 8,340 mAh doesn’t mean much to those who don’t understand the technical jargon. In real life they mean three days of battery life with normal use: social media, email, some calls, some streaming, without energy saving mode activated.
This is where the real leap lies, not in the number itself but in the change of habit it brings with it. The gesture of looking for the charger before going out, the automatic and almost unconscious one, disappears. And when such an ingrained habit dissolves, you only notice it in retrospect, looking at your phone and wondering why you’re still at 40% after a whole day away from home.
Charging: 20 minutes for a whole day
The downside of a huge battery is, usually, a biblical charging time. Redmi bypasses this with the system 67W HyperCharge: Twenty minutes of cable time returns enough power to get you through a full day of use.
In our tests, an hour of charging took the phone from 2% to 82%, with the full charge being reached in around 76 minutes. There is also the reverse charging via cable at 22.5Wuseful for giving power to headphones or another smartphone in an emergency, a niche function but which sometimes really saves the evening.
Structure and display, without compromises
The body of the phone follows the philosophy REDMI Titan Quality: Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 glass, certified resistance to drops from three meters (SGS data) and protection from water and dust with IP66 and IP68 ratingsalso tested with a 72-hour immersion at two meters depth.
The Note 17 Pro is among the first smartphones in the world to obtain certification TÜV SÜD 5-star Titan Qualitywhich combines drop, water resistance and battery performance over time, with a promise of 6 years of life without significant loss of capacity.
The 6.83 inch display, 1.5K AMOLED resolution, peak brightness up to 3,500 nits and touch sampling at 3200Hz (in Game Turbo), it returns saturated colors and surprising readability even under direct sun, a terrain where many mid-range players struggle. He is the one who moves everything Snapdragon 6s Gen 4sufficient for daily use and non-extreme gaming, with Memory Extension which brings the RAM up to 24GB on the 12+256 variant.
Camera and software
The photographic sector focuses on a main sensor from 50MP with optical stabilization and f/1.8 aperture, flanked by an 8 MP ultra-wide angle that limps a little too much. In fact, the imaging department is not the most spectacular point of the phone, but it does well in normal light conditions, with natural colors and good detail in portraits.
Xiaomi HyperOS manages everything with Google Gemini integrated and Google Circle, plus AI-powered editing tools to remove reflections or retouch shots. The experience in general is fluid and without glitches but the performance is clearly not that of a top of the range.
Prices and availability
The Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G debuts in Italy with three memory configurations. The version 8+512GB costs 399.90 euros instead of 599.90, using the MAXPOWER coupon, available only on mi.com. There 12+256GB drops to 429.90 euros (instead of 549.90), purchasable on mi.com and Amazon.
Then there is the version 6+256GB bundled with the Redmi Watch 6 (value 119.99 euros) at 499.90 euros, excluding telephone operators; in some sales channels, without bundle, it is available with a trade-in valuation increased by 100 euros.
Numbers which, combined with the record autonomy, make the Note 17 Pro one of the most interesting mid-ranges of the season: not so much for what it promises on the technical sheet, but for how little you think about the battery once you actually start using it.
