“Non Oggi” debuts at the Rome Film Festival, a short by Sergio Castellitto produced by Dude and Philip Morris Italia about a future without cigarettes.
On October 22nd as part of the official program of the Rome Film Festivalin the Other Events section, “Non Oggi” will be presented, an author’s short film made with the direction and participation of Sergio Castellittoborn with the idea of telling, through the language of cinema, a future in which cigarettes belong to the past.
At the center of the story, in addition to Castellitto himself, there are Elena Funari, Emma Beonio Brocchieri and Davide Iachini. The project, produced by Dude, in collaboration with Philip Morris Italytakes inspiration from the ongoing transformation in the tobacco industry and the belief that innovation, technology and cultural change can help eliminate cigarettes.
A visual journey towards saying goodbye to smoking
Not today it doesn’t talk about products and has no commercial purposes. It is a narrative work that chooses the language of art and culture to address a theme that concerns society as a whole. It takes place in Romein the not too distant future.
On the day of his seventieth birthday, Carlo is accompanied by his niece Lulù to the “Museum of Lost Memories“, a place that displays obsolete everyday objects from the past.
The awakening of memory among the display cases of the past
During the visit, the sight of some artefacts (including a cinema ticket, an old bicycle, a smartphone, an old computer) triggers in Carlo vivid flashbacks of his youth and his deep love for Luisa, whom he met outside a film club.
However, the museum tour turns out to be a very strong emotionally experience when the man recognizes that the objects in the display cases are his and Lulù confesses that the entire exhibition was created by Luisa, who has now passed away for a few years, as a last gift and surprise for him.
