Half of Inter too strong for Parma: what the match at San Siro said

Chivu only needs reserves to win the championship: who can stop the Nerazzurri? And surprisingly, the VAR is also back on display, having been rekindled by Orsato

Cristian Chivu did everything quickly and well, as if he needed to immediately move to the next level and focus on the return of the Champions League and the next stages of the non-stop month leading up to mid-November. Three goals in half an hour, Parma’s practice resolved without any kind of worry and we move on to the next match which will be Bruges in Europe before the away match to Bologna in the championship.

Generally speaking, there is nothing else to add at the end of an afternoon that half of it felt like training or little more. Merit of the Nerazzurri and demerit of a Parma that Gilardino will have to fix, once the impossible trip to San Siro is over, because compared to Cuesta’s old Parma there was nothing more quality in the game and all the defensive organization was also lost.

Here, then, are some quick notes to write down to make sense of the match against Parma. The first is that Chivu’s reserves are sufficient to make a top-of-the-class championship when the opponent is from the right side of the table: Parma were mistreated despite giving up Bastoni, Akanji, Barella, Zielinski and Lautaro Martinez at the start and suffered the same fate as the other unfortunates in the San Siro area.

Second note: managing the turnover in a scientific way is becoming one of Chivu’s specialties and could be the way to try to do better than last year in Europe by not finishing the second part of the season. We saw Aleksandr Stankovic, he will be useful too. Third note: the VAR is not turned off and Orsato must have also convinced his team given that the (clear) penalty awarded for the step on foot on Pio Esposito would not necessarily have led to OFR in the opening phase of the championship. Better this way than before.

Fourth note: basically Inter are still playing without a transfer market because Spence’s expected debut turned into a cameo lasting about twenty minutes. The other two Englishmen are in the pits due to physical problems and Pavard cannot be considered a new one even after returning to Appiano Gentile. The impact of the former Tottenham winger, however, was notable and if the good starts in the morning Chivu will have something to enjoy on the right wing.

For everything else, counter-proof will be needed, too little Parma which was a sacrificial victim and which never even gave the impression of being able to rebel against its destiny. Monza at times, Udinese ahead by two goals and Cagliari in a final of regrets had at least legitimized their respective matches, the ducals had not and one wonders why the differences with Cuesta were so large that they could not be resolved.
