The Mercedes Englishman betrayed by the rain, then Norris and Piastri collide with each other and give the green light to Kimi who now has an 89 point advantage over his teammate. The Ferraris did well: Hamilton second and Leclerc third. Tomorrow the GP with Max’s pole position ahead of Leclerc and Hamilton
Rain is an ally that Kimi Antonelli did not expect to have to thank in the race for the Formula 1 world championship, the rain which delayed the start of the Sprint Race in Singapore and which played a trick on George Russell. The Briton from Mercedes, the first pursuer of the Italian world leader, went off the track when he was leading after the delayed start (due to the rain obviously): Russell ended up with his wheels on the white line and his Mercedes got sideways. Green light for Max Verstappen who won by controlling the two Ferraris without problems Hamilton and Leclerc. The Englishman proved once again that he is a wizard in the wet, his start was sensational when from sixth place he took third position behind Russell and Verstappen. The race after Russell’s exit went smoothly until the last lap the madness of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri left Kimi Antonelli a very precious fourth place and five points ahead of Russell, now the Italian has 89 points more than Russell. The two Mc Laren drivers were trying to attack Leclerc’s Ferrari which was clearly in difficulty due to the wear of its tires (they all used intermediates given the weather conditions). Norris then hit Piastri while attempting to overtake Lando apologized: “I’m sorry for the mechanics, but I would like to see what happened because in my opinion there was room for overtaking”. And so Antonelli brings his lead to 89 points on the eve of the grand prix. There are seven grands prix to go, the points up for grabs are 175, to be champion it would be enough for Kimi to get 86, assuming that Russell wins all the races.
Pole position for Max
A few hours after the Sprint Race here are the official tests to determine the starting grid with a big surprise in Q1 with the Mercedes in great difficulty who finish in twelfth and thirteenth place, then the silver arrows return to their level and Kimi finishes in fourth placeWhile the fastest is still Max Verstappen which precedes the two Ferraris. Leclerc will start from the front rowonly 54 hundredths of a second behind the Dutch Red Bull. Third place for Lewis Hamilton demonstrating that Ferrari had the potential to obtain pole position, but for now in Singapore they speak the language of Max Verstappen. We’ll see tomorrow.
