The new golden age of Apulian fashion in Milan

From CGM Atelier Del Borgo to Gianni Calignano: Salento enchants Fashion Week with designer tailoring, ancient lace and identity roots

Among the most interesting news of the last fashion week, there is the new Apulian scene, which combines sartorial tradition with a cosmopolitan vision. A district famous for textile and footwear manufacturing, Salento boasts a long tradition of designers and companies that have made elegance their distinctive feature, just think of Tagliatore by the Lerario family or CoSTUME NATIONAL by the Capasa brothers. In this territory, CGM Atelier Del Borgo was born. Under the creative direction of Chiara Giulia Micoccio, Spongano’s project draws inspiration from the historic seventeenth-century residence Borgo Filograna and brings the Apulian manufacturing chain into the international spotlight. The spring/summer 2027 collection, in fact, enhances traditional heritage, from the choice of yarns to the use of ancient techniques such as crochet, lace and tatting. With Moving Texturesthis is the title of the collection, Micoccio enhances the Made in Puglia manufacturing respecting its DNA, but giving it a contemporary vision. There are five capsules that compose it: Terre Arse with the warm colors of the earth and Mediterranean vegetation; Calce Viva, which reinterprets the brightness of lime and Southern architecture, with shirts and suits in pure brushed linen in shades of ivory, ecru and neutrals, embellished with crochet inserts; La Vesta, which translates the tradition of ancient Apulian tunics into fluid silhouettes, geometric cuts; Meridiana, where the geometries of ancient sundials become the motif of loom-made fabrics and then Pietra with the ceremony proposals, which combine tailoring and three-dimensional crochet inserts. Trame In Movimento is not the only expression of Salento fashion in Milan. In fact, Gianni Calignano also showed during the fashion week. The designer, who last year was among the protagonists, together with Roberto Capucci and Gianfranco Ferrè, of the exhibition Roberto Miglietta: Patterns of Iron and Memorypresented the new summer proposal as a special guest of the 10th edition of Steven G. Torrisi’s Milan Fashion Show. Among the guests Nicoletta Manni and Timofej Andrijashenko, respectively star and principal dancer of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan.
