Garlasco, the emails between Garofano and Fratini reveal difficulties in reorganizing the files and searching for documents on Alberto Stasi’s Lacoste shoes
“You got away with less than the minimum.” Not exactly a pat on the shoulder. The investigations on Alberto Stasi’s Lacoste
No trials on emails: they are internal communications and do not demonstrate irregularities. They don’t say what act he was seeking Fratini. There is a clue, however: from the emails it emerges that Fratini searches for files relating to the investigations on Lacoste shoes by Stasis prior to the seizure. On 14 August 2007, in fact, Alberto had spontaneously delivered them to the barracks in Garlasco, before they were formally seized. The tests on the footwear were negative: Combur on September 7th, luminol on the 10th on Lacoste, Frau, Puma, Adidas and Trapper. Fluorescent areas appeared on the Valentinos, but Combur and species tests were negative; on Lacoste only the DNA of Stasis.

But does a shoe without blood prove that it hasn’t stepped on a bloody surface? The expert’s evidence Varetto in July 2009 they showed that “it depends on the trace”: on wet drops, benzidine remained positive even after three hours; on the dry ones, after an hour outdoors, hemoglobin and DNA could test negative. The defense claims that the soles disperse the traces, the Attorney General considers it incredible. Almost 20 years later, shoes are back in the conversations of the investigation on Andrea Sempio. March 13th Marco Poggi reports that Bruzzone he would consider 42 a “certain figure”, while the assessment fluctuates between 42 and 44; Stasis it fit the 43, between Frau, Trapper and Valentino. March 15th Daniela Ferrari claims that Stasis he would have thrown away the dirty shoes and handed over a clean pair, but there is no confirmation in the papers. March 30th Ermanno Cappa he tells Stefania that «everything is about shoes now». The shoe remains at the center of the discussion; the “dispersed” document for FratiniFor now, no.
