On the occasion of the celebration of the 20 years as a sovereign, Prince Alberto II on the churchyard of Palais Princier chased off the crisis shadows with his wife showing himself in affectionate attitudes with his family
In the heart of the Principality, on the churchyard of the Palais Princier, Alberto II celebrated his twenty years of sovereign. It was 2005 when, upon the death of Ranieri III, his son Alberto officially accepted the task of leading Monaco. On July 19, 2025, surrounded by citizens, tourists and above all by the Grimaldi family, the prince wanted to publicly thank “those who, with their daily commitment, give life to the Principality”. No excessive spharzo, but a party defined by Alberto himself as “wonderful and simple”: warm greetings, a monumental macaron cake and a speech destined to remain in the collective memory.
A family (almost) in complete
Next to Alberto, his sister Carolina with his children and grandchildren – including Andrea Casiraghi with Tatiana Santo Domingo and his son Maximilian, Charlotte Casiraghi with Balthazar and Beatrice Borromeo, pregnant with the third child. Stephanie with Pauline, Louis Ducruet and the always elegant Camille Gottlieb was also present. A Royal Family in a summer and enlarged version, In which the presence of Gareth Wittstock, Charlene’s brother, also stood out, for years by his side in philanthropic activities.
Charlene, Jacques and Gabriella: the center of the world
But the real protagonists of the day were Charlene of Monaco and the twins, Jacques and Gabriella. When Alberto took the floor, the voice cracked at the most personal moment: “My wife and children whom I thank every day for their love and support”. A break, the tears, then the embrace of the three who approached the prince in a gesture as spontaneous as it is touching. Charlene, splendid in the squad, showed off a serenity that had long been missing in his public appearances. The children, impeccable in their formal outfits, returned an image of family cohesion that excited those present.
“You are the prince of the heart”
It was 2015 when, in celebrating the first decade of the kingdom of her husband, Charlene took the floor to address the famous phrase: “You are the prince of the heart, of my heart”. Ten years later – between difficulties, silences and rapprochements – that feeling seems to have found its original strength. The gesture of Alberto, visibly touched, returns the image of a couple who, although tested by time and public roles, still retains an authentic form of tenderness intact.
A speech, a mission
In closing his intervention, Alberto wanted to remember the profound commitment that binds him to his people: “Everything I do every day, whether it is here, in the international arenas, in the solitude of my office or in the open sea, I do it for you”. A declaration of loyalty not only institutional, but personal. And perhaps this is precisely the strength of a sovereign like him: the ability to remain firm, but human; audience, but deeply private.
