Amazon launches Add to Delivery in Italy, the new function for Prime customers that allows you to purchase other products and add them to a shipment already arriving. Here’s how it works and who can use it
How many times does it happen that you complete an order on Amazon, close the application and realize only a few minutes later that you have forgotten something, perhaps a household product, a phone accessory or an item that would have been convenient to receive together with your other purchases? Until now, in most cases, the solution was to place a second order, with the risk of having to wait for a separate delivery, but from 21 September 2026 Amazon will introduce something new in Italy designed specifically to resolve this inconvenience: a new feature that allows you to add products to an already scheduled delivery, even after completing the initial purchase.
It’s called Add to Delivery and is available to Amazon Prime customers, who will be able to select other items and associate them directly with an arriving shipment without having to modify or cancel the original order. The new feature covers a wide selection of products, from household items to electronics, through clothing, books and pet products, and will be progressively rolled out to an ever-increasing number of users in the coming weeks.
How Add to Amazon Delivery works
The operation of the new option is rather simple and does not require any particular operations on the part of the customer, who will be able to continue browsing among the products available on Amazon even after completing a purchase, identifying those that can be added to an already scheduled shipment via a special blue button.
The wording «Add to Delivery» will appear directly on the product pages and in the search results, but only when the selected item is eligible and it will still be possible to associate it with an upcoming delivery. Simply select the button and complete the new purchase to automatically add the product to the existing delivery, without having to intervene on the previously placed order.
The possibility of using this function will therefore depend both on the product chosen and on the status of the already scheduled delivery, because not all items can be added and not all shipments will remain modifiable until the last moment.
Amazon also specifies that, if the customer changes his mind immediately after making the new purchase, he can use the “Cancel order” function to remove the newly added item.
Can I also add products to a delivery scheduled for today or tomorrow?
One of the most interesting features of the new feature concerns the possibility of adding items to deliveries scheduled for the same or next day, as long as the system still allows new products to be associated with the scheduled shipment.
In these cases, while browsing the application or site, Amazon will automatically show the button dedicated to eligible items, allowing you to complete the purchase and add them to the already scheduled delivery.
This is not, however, a guaranteed possibility for any order placed in the hours before the courier’s arrival, because the availability of the function will depend on the characteristics of the products and the actual possibility of integrating them into the existing delivery.
The advantage for the customer consists above all in the greater flexibility during daily purchases, because it will be possible to recover a forgotten item or add a product identified at a later time without necessarily having to organize a new delivery.
Who can use the new function and when it arrives in Italy
Add to Delivery is available in Italy from 21 September 2026 for Amazon Prime customers and can be used through the Amazon Shopping app or by accessing Amazon.it from a smartphone or other mobile device.
The functionality is therefore not announced at the moment for the desktop version of the site and is not necessarily already visible to all Prime members, because Amazon has specified that the release will take place progressively and will involve a growing number of customers over the next few weeks.
Anyone who does not immediately find the blue button while browsing may therefore not yet have access to the news or may have selected a product or delivery for which the option is not available.
How much does Amazon Prime cost in Italy
The new feature is reserved for Amazon Prime subscribers, the service which in Italy costs 4.99 euros per month or 49.90 euros per year and which includes, in addition to fast shipping at no additional cost on millions of eligible products, also access to entertainment services such as Prime Video, Amazon Music Prime and Amazon Luna.
For new eligible members there is a free trial period of 30 days, while university students and young people aged between 18 and 24 can access a free period of use of 90 days and, subsequently, benefit from a discounted rate of 2.49 euros per month or 24.95 euros per year.
With Add to Delivery, Amazon intervenes on one of the most common habits of online shopping, that of making subsequent purchases within the same day, introducing a system that allows you to integrate orders already placed when logistical conditions allow it and offering customers a greater possibility of organizing their purchases even after confirming the cart.
