Twist in the Garlasco case: Giuseppe Sempio investigated for corruption in judicial documents. The Brescia Prosecutor’s Office orders investigations on the seized devices
The murder of Chiara Poggi, the legal case that has marked an entire generation of crime news, reopens with a twist: Giuseppe Sempiofather of Andrewit’s officially investigated for corruption in judicial documents.
The registration in the register of suspects was confirmed by sources of the Brescia Prosecutor’s Office and notified today, 30 October, together with a judicial document which marks a turning point in the bis investigation. According to investigators, Sempio would have paid between 20 and 30,000 euros to the then deputy prosecutor of Pavia, Mario Vendittito obtain the archiving of the son’s position in 2017.
The “pizzino” and the money trail
It all starts from a meager note, written by hand and found during the search on September 26th last in the home of Andrea Sempio’s parents: «Sold investigating judge archives for 20.30 euros». A detail which, in the language of judicial news, weighs like evidence. From that “pizzino” the Brescia Prosecutor’s Office built a suspicion: an illicit payment was hidden behind that amount – a corruption in judicial documents — aimed at closing the first investigation into the Poggi murder.
According to the new accusatory hypothesis, Sempio senior would have orchestrated the alleged giving of money in competition with Sold youwho in 2017 signed the rapid dismissal for his son Andrea, now under investigation again for murder in conspiracy.
The official act and the appointment of defenders
The deed, signed by the prosecutor Francesco Prete and by the pm Claudia Moreregolawas notified both to Mario Vendittiassisted by the lawyer Domenico Aielloboth a Giuseppe Sempioto which a public defender. The act states that the crime of corruption in judicial documents would have been committed to Pavia in February 2017 and that the “unrepeatable” technical investigations ordered by the magistrates are aimed at extracting a forensic copy of the phones and computing devices seized last month.
The search and the new investigations
The operations are entrusted to the technical consultant Matteo Ghigowill take place on November 3 in the Pinerolo studio (Turin). Consultants appointed by both defenses will be present and the analyzes will continue 45 days. The goal: recover and decode all data, even deleted onesto verify the existence of any money transfers or suspicious communications.
Already during the search on September 26, investigators had seized telephones and digital media belonging to Venditti and ai Examplealso listening to Andrea’s mother as a simple witness. In that location, Giuseppe Sempio had reiterated that the disputed sums were not intended for a magistrate, but for the payment in cash, without receipt, of the old defensive pool of Andrea, of which he was also part Massimo Lovati.
From news to history: a case that never ends
The story, which he had seen for a long time Alberto Stasi at the center of the trial, thus continues to intertwine new names, new accusations, and old suspicions. The Garlasco case is not just a cold case: it is a labyrinth of investigations, alleged corruptions and judicial silencesin which each discovery takes time back to August 13, 2007, in the house in via Pascoli where Chiara Poggi was found dead.
Today, with the registration of Giuseppe Sempio in the register of suspects and the official opening of the corruption trail, justice seems ready to reopen the most uncomfortable page of the whole affair.
