Antonio Marras, trio of exhibitions curated by Francesca Alfano Miglietti

This evening the inauguration of Paso Doble with Maria Lai; from 4 February the spaces in Milan and Verona will host Stefano Cigada. The fractures of time.

Fashion is culture and Antonio Marras knows it well and will be involved in three exhibitions this February. The common thread among the initiatives is the choice of Francesca Alfano Miglietti, who curated all the exhibitions. The first, MARIA LAI|ANTONIO MARRAS: PASO DOBLEwill be inaugurated this evening at the M77 Gallery in Milan and will compare the characteristics of the two artists. “I believe that art is a particular form of isolation, of concentration, a way to distance myself from reality,” explained the designer, “While I’m messing around, I’m in a bubble, in a sort of elsewhere.” The unprecedented dialogue, scheduled until May 16, is made up of 200 works, including drawings, books, paintings, collages, installations and sculptures by Maria Lai (from 1954 to 2011) and Antonio Marras (from 2000 to 2025), as well as some works created together, such as a large sheet with embroidery, and unpublished works. The other two exhibitions, however, are connected to the current events of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics. The spaces, Despite Marras in Milan and Antonio Marras Verona, in fact, will be the backdrop to the exhibition Stefano Cigada. The fractures of time. Scheduled from 5 to 28 February, the two exhibitions explore the relationship between classical sculpture and photography as underlined by Alfano Miglietti, “It is a story of the body for piecesa reflection on the theme of the fragment, of partof the wound, a look that undermines the certainties of integrity, crumbling the usual perception of everything. Stefano Cigada chooses the transversality of the gaze to that of the story, he plays to accentuate the crack as in a discordant polyphony, and in his images emerges the deepest sense of the fragment, of an irreparable fracture. Light and space are allies and sometimes enemies… a struggle that allows a poetic substance to emerge that shapes the image and reveals its hidden soul. His photography is not reduced to simple reproduction, but is similar to a poetic act, both material and immaterial, through a rigorous and refined style”.
