Barbara D’Urso sues Mediaset after three years: clash over copyright, social media and end of contract, while the company rejects all accusations
Barbara D’Urso he waited almost three years to file a lawsuit against Mediaset, the company for which he worked for over twenty years. As is known, his fall in relations with Biscione began on the day of his funeral Silvio Berlusconi when, interviewed by reporters, she decided to use the minutes of the microphones turned on to also talk about her own program. A few weeks later he found himself out of the company.
And so, after three long years, yesterday there D’Urso has decided to sue Mediaset. The presenter would have chosen to take Biscione to court after the failure of the mediation procedure with the company. Among other things, the presenter would await an apology for a post on social media from the official “Qui Mediaset” profile in which she was insulted for having sent a video message to the competition of Sunday InRai 1. Shortly afterwards, the comment was removed and Mediaset claimed to have suffered a hack: «We detected anomalous access to our profile. Following the necessary technical intervention, we may experience account malfunctions. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
The lawyers would also dispute the lack of payment of copyright for the programs she signed as an author in 16 years of work and for the format she owned Live It’s not D’Urso.
With the occasion the D’Urso he also decided to take a few pebbles out of his shoes by denouncing that he had always had to communicate the guest list to obtain the approval of Silvia Toffanin and of Maria De Filippi. Today Fascino (the production company of Maria De Filippi) makes it known that there have never been lists of guests previously approved to go on other programs, effectively denying what the presenter’s lawyers claimed.
Andrea Di PortoMediaset’s lawyer, made it known that «the company denies any accusation made by the lady D’Urso» and that the reconstruction of the facts is «instrumental and does not correspond to reality». Therefore “the presenter’s claims for compensation are completely unfounded”. Mediaset, the lawyer continued, “has always acted in compliance with the obligations undertaken and in accordance with its editorial line, therefore it is confident in the positive outcome of the dispute”.
The reaction from Cologno Monzese is decidedly harsh: «During the contract renewal phase, in 2023 it was proposed to D’Urso the continuation of Afternoon 5. The renewal did not materialize in response to the request from D’Urso of the hosting of two prime time shows, not deemed compatible with the schedule requirements”. The presenter’s departure has “nothing to do with the change in the editorial line”. Finally the money. The company claims that only thanks to the contracts the presenter has reached “a figure close to 35 million euros for her years of collaboration with Mediaset, to which must be added the revenues received from advertising investors, which are not quantifiable”. Furthermore «in 2003 Pier Silvio Berlusconi and the company entrusted her with the management of Big Brotherthe network’s flagship program, offering it the chance to return to the air at a time when it had been off the air for years.”
There D’Ursoafter leaving Mediaset, she appeared only a few times on television. Except for participation as a competitor of Dancing with the stars and a few others will appear. According to many, the D’Urso he would like to continue doing television, perhaps with a leading role. And that’s why it’s thought she’s ready to pull something out of her hat. And the lawsuit against Mediaset could be just the beginning of its relaunch.
