Displayed, the French premier will resign tomorrow to the Elysée. For the president, it is yet another political failure
Yet another tile for Emmanuel Macron. After less than nine months, the government of the French premier, François Bayrou, has fallen. The National Assembly has in fact denied him the trust: the votes in his favor were just 194 (less than expected), while the opposites were 364. Tomel in the morning, the person concerned will go to the Elysée, where he will formally resign. Macron has made it known that he had “taken note” of the incident, adding that he will appoint a successor “in the next few days”. For the Elyséic tenant it is a very significant knot. Locked on the very spinoso issue of debt reduction, Bayrou is in fact the fourth French premier to fall since January 2024.
Although the president has so far categorically excluded the resignation, Macronian policy has now reached the terminus. The prestigious games that the Elisha has made in the name of the Convention to Excludendum In fact, they have produced only chaos and growing ungovernability. Not surprisingly, an IFOP survey for Ouest-France of three days ago noted that 77% of the French do not approve of the president’s action. Added to this is the debt situation which, according to Reuters, in June reached 3.3 trillions of euros, equal to 114% of GDP. And so the Cerino will now pass into the hands of the next government, which will have to decide whether to drastically cut public spending or whether to increase taxes equally drastically.
And that’s not all. The crisis that is going through France is also of a geopolitical nature. In the last three years, Paris has gradually lost political-military influence on Sahel: Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger have in fact now entered the Russian orbit. Furthermore, although you have been trying for some time to relaunch the French role internationally, Macron is not de facto I was able to touch the ball on the Ukrainian crisis, with respect to which he has done and said everything and the opposite of everything. First he claimed that Vladimir Putin should not be humiliated. Then, suddenly, he rediscovered anti -rough hawk. The bankruptcy strategy of the Elysée was to try to weaken the transatlantic relationships to strengthen the French influence on the European continent: a way of proceeding that a boomerang was in the end.
To complete the picture, the fact that Macron has been at the Elysée since May 2017. Therefore he cannot blame others of this sensational disaster, if not himself. Here, it would be good that his local admirers finally acknowledged it. Unfortunately we know that it will not be so.
