From the Sanctuary of the Bozzola to the suicides never clarified: new shadows on the murder of Chiara Poggi between disappeared imprints and possible group actions
18 years after the murder of Chiara Poggi, which took place on 13 August 2007 in Garlasco, the case reopens with new investigations, alternative theories and a series of mysterious events that continue to raise questions.
The secret discovered by Chiara
According to the lawyer Massimo Lovati, a defender of Andrea Semplio, Chiara Poggi may have been killed after discovering a compromising secret. The hypothesis is that someone known to her convinced her to open the door, thus allowing the attacker to hit. However, at the moment there is no concrete tests in support of this theory.
The suspicions on the Sanctuary of the Bozzola
Another track concerns the sanctuary of the Madonna della Bozzola, near Garlasco. In 2012, the rector of the sanctuary was the victim of a sexual blackmail by two young Romanians, who managed to be delivered about 200,000 euros. The lawyer Lovati defined this figure for a parish priest “inexplicable”, suggesting that the declarations and interceptions of the two young people could contain useful elements for investigations.
In addition, a file entitled “Abuse 550” was found in the Poggi home computers, containing an article on alleged religious abuse. Lovati hypothesizes that someone reported to Chiara of parties or abuses and that this has had a weight in his death. However, Chiara worked in Milan, did not attend ecclesiastical environments and no direct link with the sanctuary emerged.
Theories, myomaniacs and unsolved mysteries
From the first days after the crime, they emerged slopes never verified: alleged performances women, esoteric tickets left outside the house, sensory and the “magician Yaris” who said he was talking to the spirit of Chiara. None of these hypotheses has ever been reflected.
The trail of suspicious suicides
A disturbing element that emerged over the years is the series of suspicions that occurred in Garlasco and in the neighboring areas, involving people linked, directly or indirectly, to the Poggi case.
Corrado Cavallini: general practitioner of Garlasco and a treating of the Semve family, he was found dead in his home in Vigevano on March 24, 2012, following a lethal injection. It is assumed that Cavallini could be aware of relevant information, perhaps confided to him by Giovanni Ferri’s widow.
Giovanni Ferri: 88 -year -old retired mechanic, he was found dead in mysterious circumstances: his body lay in a narrow space, with throat and chopped wrists, but without any blade in the surroundings. The wife immediately excluded the hypothesis of suicide, but the investigators still classified the death as such. Ferri knew Chiara and that morning he had spoken to her.
Friends of Andrea Semplio: Between 2011 and 2016, three young people belonging to the circle of friends of Semplio took their lives in suspicious circumstances. In an intercepted conversation, Semplio said: “All the cocks … from zero to 18 years of age we have made them together”, referring to one of the three. These events have fueled further theories and speculations on the case.
New investigations and developments
In 2025, the Pavia Prosecutor’s Office reopened the case, focusing on Andrea Semplio, friend of Chiara’s brother. One of the key tests is the palm tree imprint n.33, found on the wall of the stairs near Chiara’s body. This imprint, attributed to Semve, had already been detected in 2007 but not identified. However, the plaster sample containing the imprint is currently unavailable, complicating forensic analyzes.
The investigations are also concentrated on other elements: six unidentified fingerprints found near the body, a fragment of a bath mat seized for analysis and the discovery of a hammer in a tromel channel, close to a property of the Cappa family. This tool could be the crime weapon, since a hammer was missing from the Poggi house after the murder.
Alberto Stasi’s position
Alberto Stasi, sentenced to 16 years of imprisonment in 2015, is currently in conditional freedom. His defense requested the revision of the process in light of the new elements that emerged, claiming that the imprint attributed to Semve could indicate the presence of another individual on the crime scene.
The declarations of Minister Nordio
The Minister of Justice Carlo Nordio expressed criticism on the condemnation of Stasi, calling it “unreasonable” after two acquittals without redoing the entire trial. He underlined that the responsibility of the magistrates can only be attributed in case of ignorance of the law or procedural cards, highlighting the need for legislative reforms to avoid infinite processes.
The cousins Cappa: Stefania and Paola
The twins Stefania and Paola Cappa, a cousin of Chiara Poggi, have never been investigated for the crime. However, in recent times, new information has emerged: a witness reported a dispute between Chiara and one of the cousins the day before the murder. In addition, the Prosecutor has acquired 186 audio messages sent by Paola Cappa to a friend, who could contain relevant elements for investigations. Currently, there is no imminent convocation of the twins as witnesses, but the prosecutor has ordered the acquisition of their DNA for comparisons with the biological tracks found on the crime scene.
Next stages
An evidentiary accident is scheduled for June 17, 2025, during which the recently seized finds will be examined and re -evaluated with advanced scientific techniques. This could represent a crucial point for investigations and for the possible reopening of the process.
