Electric car incentives 2025, here we go. The long-awaited click day is underway for the race for state contributions intended for those who decide to scrap a petrol or diesel car and switch to an electric vehicle. The electric car bonus provides up to 11 thousand euros of contribution for private individuals and up to 20 thousand euros for micro-enterprises. Objective of the measure? Put approximately 39 thousand new electric vehicles on the road.

The key word, as always in these cases, is speed. The MASE electronic desk opens at midday on October 22nd and assigns incentives in order of booking, until available resources are exhausted. As part of the Pnrr, the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security has made available a total budget of 597 million euros. So, the timeline of your application does matter.
To complete the procedure it is necessary to log in with Spid or Cie, register by entering your data and the municipality of residence, and generate a digital voucher certifying the booking of the incentive. Once obtained, the voucher must be used within 30 days at a participating dealer: if it is not used in time, the reservation will lapse and the funds will become available again for other applicants. The contribution is paid directly in the form of a discount on the purchase price of the electric vehicle, without the need to wait for subsequent reimbursements.
Requirements: who can access the 2025 electric car bonus
It is not a bonus for everyone, but you need to have precise requirements related to income, residence and type of vehicle. Citizens with ISEE up to 40 thousand euros, residents in one of the Functional Urban Areas (FUA) or in the relevant commuting areas can apply. These areas, identified by Istat and the European Commission, include 1,892 municipalities characterized by commuting flows towards the main centres. And micro-enterprises with fewer than 10 employees and an annual turnover of less than 2 million euros, also with registered office in the FUA areas, can apply. It is mandatory for everyone to scrap a combustion engine vehicle up to Euro 5, which they have owned for at least six months.
How to apply for the 2025 electric car bonus: the step-by-step procedure
You can access the MASE website by logging in with your digital credentials. The second step is to fill out the request form, attaching the updated ISEE, the documentation of the vehicle to be scrapped (registration document and ownership certificate) and an identity document and tax code. Once the application is completed and the availability of funds is verified, the platform generates a digital voucher. This code must then be presented to the dealer, who will apply the immediate discount at the time of sale. The incentive is non-refundable and intended exclusively for the purchase of new electric cars with a maximum list price of 35 thousand euros (excluding VAT). For micro-businesses, first-time registration of electric commercial vehicles is envisaged, with a maximum of two incentives per company.
How much is the electric car bonus worth and how does the discount work
The amount of the contribution varies based on the income and type of beneficiary. For private individuals with ISEE up to 30 thousand euros the incentive is up to 11 thousand euros; with ISEE between 30 and 40 thousand it drops to 9 thousand euros. The bonus for micro-businesses is up to 20 thousand euros. The contribution is applied directly to the invoice, reducing the purchase price, and can be cumulated with other regional or local incentives, as long as it does not exceed the limits set by the decree. Final limit: those who benefit from the incentive are obliged to maintain ownership of the vehicle for at least 12 months, to avoid speculative resales.
