Compensation for families

According to the Swiss newspaper, with the value of the assets exceeding half a million Swiss francs, the seizure will serve to partly cover the legal costs, but above all the requests for compensation for damages from the victims’ families. Also stolen were 14 cartridges and a Glock 19 semi-automatic pistol, although the owner of the Constellation defended himself by claiming to have a regular firearms licence.

France’s no to the request for an international letter rogatory

The investigators’ initiative comes after the judicial court of Grasse, France, denied the request for an international letter rogatory made by the general prosecutor’s office of the Canton of Valais for the seizure of real estate and bank accounts attributable to the owners of the Constellation. The French no concerns an apartment in Cannes, the family home in Corsica, in Sari-Solenzara, a life insurance policy and some bank accounts. According to the French court, the legal conditions for proceeding do not exist: «Requests for international letters rogatory concerning assets that do not have a direct or indirect link with the crime are not, in any case, possible in France at the request of foreign authorities outside the European Union, in the absence of an international convention that specifically provides for it, and must be rejected».
