Distribution of the new social card “Dedicated to You” has begun. 500 euros, to support over 1,330,000 Italian families with an ISEE income of less than 15 thousand euros. With the card you can buy basic necessities, immediately. In 2023 it was 459 euros and 1.2 million families benefited from it. According to estimates, 96% of the resources were spent on food and 4% on fuel. But who is entitled to it? What are the requirements? Where can you collect it? How does it work and what can and cannot be purchased?
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE CARD DEDICATED TO YOU 2024
Families with an ISEE of less than 15 thousand and who do not receive other public contributions to support their families are entitled to the social card. Furthermore, the ISEE must be valid and all family members must be residents. Having said this, the selection of beneficiaries follows a decreasing order of priority based on three criteria and in all cases the lowest ISEE is the one that triggers precedence in the event of a tie: families with at least three members and at least one born by December 31, 2010; families with at least three members and at least one born by December 31, 2006; families with at least three members.
HOW TO ASK FOR AND RECEIVE THE SOCIAL CARD
It does not need to be requested. But the Municipalities have already communicated to those interested the assignment of the benefit, also publishing the lists of beneficiaries (with partially obscured data) on their websites. But once you have received the communication from your Municipality of residence, you must go and collect the card at any post office. And at that time you must present the communication from the Municipality that contains the combination of the beneficiary’s tax code with the identification code of the assigned card. If you already had the 2023 social card and the requirements are still valid, the 500 euros will be automatically recharged. Distribution begins today, September 9.
WHAT CAN YOU BUY WITH THE SOCIAL CARD DEDICATED TO YOU?
Basic foodstuffs, excluding alcohol. The list has been expanded this year and also includes DOP and IGP products, frozen vegetables and frozen baked goods. Fuel and local public transport passes. It cannot be used to buy medicines. There are also 15% discounts for large-scale retail trade and agreements with fuel distribution point management companies.
TIMING, DEADLINES AND OBLIGATIONS FOR THOSE WHO RECEIVE THE 2024 SOCIAL CARD
Once you have collected the card you can immediately start using it. But there is an obligation to respect. The first purchase with the card must be made by December 16, 2024, otherwise you lose the right to the contribution. Is there a deadline for the 500 euros? They must be spent by February 28, 2025.
