The meeting between the Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Pope Leone XIV took place this morning in the Vatican Apostolic Palace. Cardinal Pietro Parolin, secretary of state of the Holy See, and Monsignor Paul Richard Gallagher, secretary for relations with state and international organizations also attended the hearing.
Peace in Ukraine and Middle East
During the interviews, common efforts were underlined to promote peace in Ukraine and the Middle East. Particular attention has been paid to humanitarian assistance in Gaza, with the intent to relieve the suffering of the local population.
Bilateral relationships and social issues
In addition to international issues, the issues of interest for the Church and the Italian Society has also been discussed. Topics relating to bilateral relations between Italy and the Holy See have been addressed, with the aim of strengthening collaboration on issues of common interest.
