“Documented violence, a bigger story of them”

The indictment of the prosecutor Capasso closed: 9 years for Ciro Grillo and his three friends. Two charges, including videos, photos and time reconstructions. Now it’s up to the civil parties

Nine years. With extenuating circumstances, confiscation and compensation. The account of the prosecutor arrives at the end of a long indictment in two days, which lasted over eight hours, which reconstructed the facts and responsibilities of that night between 16 and 17 July, episode by episode.

The chief prosecutor of Tempio Pausania, Gregorio Capasso, asked for a nine-year sentence of imprisonment for all four defendants: Ciro Grillo, Edoardo Capitta, Vittorio Lauria and Francesco Corsiglia, accused of group sexual violence against an Italian-Norwegian student and, in a second episode, of his friend.

The magistrate recognized the generic extenuating circumstances due to the young age of the defendants at the time of the facts (July 2019), but also asked for the preventive confiscation of goods and compensation to the victims.

Two accusation: videos, photos and a key time sequence

At the center of the indictment – which lasted eight hours between Monday and Tuesday – there are two distinct charges.

The boss concerned three episodes that took place in the villa of Porto Cervo, owned by the Grillo family. After an evening on the premises of the Costa Smeralda and at Billionaire, the 19 -year -old student and a friend of hers decide to get home with the four Genoese boys.

According to the accusation, Francesco Corsiglia would have had a first rejected approach, followed by a sexual relationship with the young woman in whom, according to the prosecutor, the other friends observed and commented, up to an episode of group violence, for which there are videos in the documents. Capasso claims that Corsiglia was present and had also participated in the filming.

Chapter B instead refers to photographs taken while the other girl slept, who would involve Grillo, Captain and Lauria.

The night between 16 and 17 July 2019: what happened in Porto Cervo

Everything revolves around a night of celebration and alcohol, in the sparkling frame of the Costa Smeralda. It was July 2019. After spending the evening among the premises of the area-including Billionaire-two students, one of whom is Italian-Norwegian, accept the invitation of four young people from Genoese known in the disco and follow them in the family villa of Ciro Grillo in Porto Cervo.

According to the accusation, group sexual violence, aggravated by the state of psychophysical alteration of the girl, linked to the amount of alcohol ingested, to prolonged fasting and tiredness, was consumed in that house.

The four defendants have always spoken of consenting relationships, but the prosecutor contest the absence of lucidity and ability to understand the young woman.

The investigations, conducted starting from the complaint filed a few days after the alleged rape, led to a indictment and a trial that lasted years. The only one to made spontaneous statements and to be interrogated in the classroom was Francesco Corsiglia. Ciro Grillo spoke only to the opening of the indictment, declaring himself innocent.

Now the word passes to the civil parties and then to the defense

The accusation phase is closed, now it’s up to the civil parties, represented by the lawyer Giulia Bongiorno, take the floor in the next hearings. Following, between 10 and 12 July, it will be the turn of the defenses.

Francesco Corsiglia is so far the only one who made statements in front of the college, for a total of twelve hours. The other defendants – including Ciro Grillo – have never deposed, but they could do it before closing the hearing. “We expected a heavy request,” commented the lawyer Gennaro Velle, defender of Corsille, “we will bring out the contradictions of the alleged victim and the elements in favor of the innocence of my client. It is not over here ».

The process thus enters its most delicate phase. The sentence is expected by the summer.
