Among crystals, metallic flashes and delicate pastel shades, the most beautiful dresses spotted on the blue carpet of the Emmy Awards.
For one evening the traditional red carpet of the Emmy Awards changed colour. On the peacock blue carpet chosen to celebrate the centenary of NBC, the protagonists of television inaugurated the new awards season with a wardrobe suspended between Hollywood classicism, transparent seductions and nostalgia of the early 2000s.
On one side black, essential but far from discreet, on the other white and ivory. In between, a surprising constellation of pastel shades – lilac, powder pink, light blue and pistachio green – brought the languid elegance of the early 2000s back to the red carpet.
There was no shortage of metal, which has now become a new form of red carpet neutrality. Selena Gomez evoked the same Emmy statuette with a gold Louis Vuitton dress, while Zendaya, once again supported by stylist Law Roach, entrusted a custom Prada covered in crystals to a sophisticated and almost liquid version of the naked dress.
The hostess, Mariska Hargitay, also chose to entrust a personal story to the dress. The red sequins and feathers of her Monse look, coordinated with that of her daughter Amaya, paid homage to her mother Jayne Mansfield and the costume the actress wore in the film The Girl Can’t Help It from 1956. A familiar and cinematic reference that summarizes the spirit of the evening well: less interested in provocation as an end in itself and more inclined to recover the archive, memory and codes of glamor to reread them through contemporary sensibilities.
