The friendly match between Denmark and Ukraine, two great players excluded from the 2026 World Cup like Italy, was interrupted and canceled in the 65th minute due to a new illness accused by Christian Eriksen. The Wolfsburg midfielder put his hand to his chest and then collapsed to the ground. He was immediately rescued and transported to hospital, and has always remained conscious.
Second episode
This is the second episode of this type that has affected him in the space of five years. Eriksen had already suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch during the European Championship match between Denmark and Finland, on 12 June 2021. Even in that case, he was immediately rescued and transferred to hospital: the match resumed after a two-hour stoppage, once reassurances on his condition had been received, and ended with Finland’s 1-0 success. Eriksen was able to continue his competitive activity through the implantation of a subcutaneous defibrillatorbut he had to leave Inter, the team he was linked to at the time. Italian law, in fact, does not allow competitive sports with a defibrillator. His contract with the Nerazzurri was terminated in December 2021 and he moved to Brentfordspent three years in the Premier League with the Manchester United and eventually moved to the Wolfsburgin Germany.
