Formula 1: in the tests at Montmelò the Monegasque and Hamilton racked up 110 laps, while Mc Laren postponed their seasonal debut
There new Ferrari SF-26 who will participate in the next Formula 1 world championship took to the track in the Montmelò tests, even if the weather conditions did not help the Maranello team. Rain since the morning on the circuit near Barcelona but Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton they still collected 110 laps, while Mc Laren postponed its debut until tomorrow. Little attention to the times and a lot to the new car and all that it will entail. In the end, Charles Leclerc appeared satisfied: “It was pleasant to be back behind the wheel, especially in a completely new car and very different from the ones we have driven so far. At this stage our objective is simply to verify that every element works correctly, and overall I would say that we succeeded. The conditions were not ideal, because the track was damp in the morning, but we still managed to complete the planned programme, without any concern for the lap time. Right now we just want to check out all the new systems and see if they’re responding as they shouldand the fact that everything worked is an encouraging sign. From here we will begin to build our work step by step.” Leclerc is curious to check what’s new from the other teams in the season that is about to start: “I’m very motivated and curious to understand what the others will bring to the track, because when we start pushing a little more it will be interesting to see where we find ourselves compared to the competition. I believe that This season represents a great opportunity for every teambecause with such different rules there is room to do something new and perhaps create an advantage that we have not seen in recent years. My wish is that we are the ones who can make the difference, but whatever the starting point we will give everything to try to bring Ferrari back to where it deserves to be. We will do our utmost to try to bring Ferrari back to the top, because it has been a very long time since we last succeeded. Precisely for this reason I hope that this season can represent our moment and the beginning of a new winning cycle.”
The others
On the track too Max Verstappen with Red Bull who set better times than the Leclerc in the dry, while the Maranello driver did better in the wet. Satisfying day too Lewis Hamilton with the other Ferrari. A little less for Hadjar in the other Red Bull who was involved in an accident with no consequences at the end.
