Garlasco, the mystery of objects in the Tromello canal

Mazzetta, axes and pliers in the Tromello canal: compatible with the weapon of the Poggi crime. A bricklayer had found them seven years before the testimony that reopened the case

In the Tromello channel, a few kilometers from Garlasco, compatible work tools emerge – perhaps – with the weapons of the crime. But the most disconcerting detail is another: seven years were found before the testimony that reopened the case.

The objects found in the Tromello canal

A bricklayer brickfish head, a fireplace pliers, the remains of two lurking axes: One still with a piece of wooden handle, the other reduced to the iron blade alone. These are the objects seized by the carabinieri during the Inspection in the Tromello canala month and a half ago, as part of the new investigations on the murder of Chiara Poggi. Tools that, according to a first evaluation, could be compatible with the crime weaponeven if at the time of the investigations-despite several medical-legal advice- It was never established with certainty with clear thing was hit and killed. One, perhaps two different weapons, used in distinct moments.

The new investigations, coordinated by the Pavia prosecutor with the assistant prosecutor Fabio Napoleone at the helm, for now do not focus directly on the possible weapon of the crime. Attention is focused on other elements, judged much more “concrete”, as part of the investigation that sees Investigated for murder Andrea Semplio. However, checks will still be carried out to check the compatibility between these tools and the wounds found on the victim’s bodyeven if, at the moment, they do not represent an investigative priority. Yet, around the objects of Tromello, circumstances considered “interesting” by the investigators emerge.

The story of the Supertestimone

Gianni Bruscagin was triggered the inspection, first issued to the transmission The hyenas And then brought to the verbal of investigators. Bruscagin reported that he had learned from a person who died in the meantime (as well as the direct witness of the fact) that on the morning of 13 August 2007 Stefania CappaCousin by Chiara Poggi, it was seen to reach out of the grandmother’s house in Tromello, with a heavy bag. Shortly thereafter, the same source would hear “A strong thud” Coming from the small channel behind the property, a noise “similar to what is produced by throwing very heavy objects”.

Bruscagin claims to have told this episode to the lawyer of the Poggi family, Gian Luigi Tizzonito which he says he has been addressed to look for useful information in the country. The lawyer, however, would have replied that the investigations of the Vigevano prosecutor and the carabinieri were concentrating on Chiara’s boyfriend, Alberto Stasi, and would have suggested, possibly, to talk about it directly with investigators. After a comparison with a colonel of the carabinieri, personal friend but not involved in the case, Bruscagin would finally have decided to let it go. And for eighteen years he kept silent everything, until this spring, when he told the story to the Mediaset broadcast. Shortly after, on May 14, the magistrates Stefano Civardi, Valentina De Stefano and Giuliana Rizza arranged an inspection to verify the truthfulness of her version.

However, there is a fundamental detail, which also emerged during the Rai broadcast 2 pm evening: the objects in question were not found in the channel during the May inspection. To provide them with the carabinieri was an Egyptian bricklayer, residing on the other side of the Roggia with respect to the Ham family house. During the firefighters’s operations, a worker contacted him while working on a construction site, informing him of the presence of soldiers, journalists and cameras on the channel behind the house.

At that point the man decided to contact the carabinieri of Gambolò directly, telling that he is He went down in the channel seven years earlier, in 2018, to clean it out of the garbage. Precisely at that point he had found the bouquet, the two ax blades and the pliers, objects he had then kept in a room used as a tool deposit. After formalizing his testimony, he delivered everything to the investigators, who seized.

Beyond their actual implication in the crime – hypothesis on which in the Prosecutor’s office are prudent – the detail that the objects were found in 2018 by a person completely foreign to the testimony of Bruscagin, who would have emerged only in 2025, represents for investigators a potentially significant element. In essence, When the “Supertestimone” told that old story, the tools had already emerged for some time, without him or the author of the discovery having mutual knowledge of it. A coincidence that, even without answering the crucial question – are those tools or not the weapons of the crime? – gives a certain credibility to his story.

And at the same time, it excludes that objects may have been thrown into the channel only after his public testimony, as any attempt to sidetrack.

The track on Semve and the new investigations

However, it remains to be clarified if, and in what way, this story is really connected to the murder of Chiara Poggi. The investigation, conducted by the Investigative Unit of the Carabinieri of Milan and the Pavese Prosecutor’s Office, is following a precise address. In a phase still covered by the utmost reserve, the investigations proceed relentlessly and the current evidentiary accident – which will resume on July 4 – represents only one of the pieces of the new accusatory system.

According to investigative sources, the mosaic on which the magistrates are working would be much more articulated than publicly emerged so far. And the next few months could clarify if, if Garlasco’s case, there is still a truth that remained in the shadows. If this were the case, at the age of 18 from the facts and after five trials culminating with the definitive sentence of Alberto Stasi, we would find ourselves in front of one of the most sensational twists and turns of Italian judicial history.
