New elements on what happened around the Garlasco crime, not only on 13 August 2007, when Chiara Poggi was found dead in her home, but also ten years later, in 2017, the year in which the investigations on Andrea Sempio they were opened and then archived.
An audio was broadcast on Monday 21 September from the Rai Tre program «Lo Stato delle Cose», hosted by Massimo Giletti. In the interception, the voice of Examplefriend of Marco Poggibrother of the victim, and now under investigation (again) for the murder. The fate of the 38-year-old will be decided on September 28: sent to trial or dismissed.
His words are direct: «This Soap he called me once because, according to what they told me, there was also a system in which they tried to catch people who were under investigation and… if you give me the money I’ll help you.”
Who is Silvio Sapone and the connection with Garlasco
The name that Example pronunciation is not new to those who follow the case. Silvio Sapone he is the former head of the Judicial Police in Pavia. In the years following the reopening of the investigation, he analyzed the intercepted conversations between the suspect and his father, before and after the interrogation in February 2017.
According to investigators, between the family Example, Soap and the marshal Giuseppe Spoto there were relationships, and there would have been contacts in the weeks preceding the interrogation of 10 February 2017. In January of that year alone the suspect would have received 16 unanswered calls from the carabiniere, then still in service and now retired, and then (himself) called the soldier back.
Soap he has always rejected every accusation: «We thought we would hear Example on record and I called him to notify him. Then the magistrates changed their minds because they wanted to intercept him first. We had to call him to hear it. Then he called me back the next day. I honestly don’t remember the content of the phone calls. I don’t know the ExampleI didn’t help anyone. I have nothing to fear,” he declared during interrogations. A statement, however, which clashes with what he claimed in a previous hearing, in which he claimed not to have had any contact with Example.
The Venditti case and its archiving
The interception fits into a broader framework that also involves Mario Vendittiformer chief prosecutor of Pavia, who came under investigation for corruption. The accusation was that of having received sums of money to drop the investigation against him Examplein 2017. The starting point was the discovery of a note in the home of the suspect’s parents, on which it was written: «Sold you investigating judge files for 20-30 euros”.
However, the investigating judge of the Court of Brescia accepted the request for dismissal against Sold you: there is no evidence implicating him. Gilettireferring to the audio, explained that «the former prosecutor Mario Venditti has not been corrupted by Example in 2017, but the investigators’ doubts about the men of the judicial police who worked with him remain”.
Charges dismissed Sold youIn any case, the case is not completely closed. The hypothesis of corruption remains standing, but moves on to other subjects. As reported by Ansa, “the crime hypothesis remains intact, but it concerns other people”. The investigations, in short, continue.
