Historic record of 3.05 billion euros for Parmigiano Reggiano companies, which concluded 2023 with a turnover increasing by 5%. Growth supported by total sales by volume by 8.4%, from sales in Italy (+10.9%) and from exports (+5.7%).
Despite macroeconomic and inflation uncertainties, 2023 was a positive year for the Parmigiano Reggiano Consortium. Production remained stable compared to 2022, with 4.014 million wheels, and the annual average of prices at origin for fresh Parmigiano Reggiano recorded a slight decrease of 5% compared to the previous year. Direct sales from dairies accounted for 5% of total sales and recorded a strong increase of 10.8%. The export share now represents 43%, with a growth of 5.7%, with particularly positive results in several foreign markets, including Spain, France, the United States and Australia.
