At least 34 people were injured and nine were killed when a rocket hit a soccer field in the Druze town of Majdal Shams in northern Israel on Saturday afternoon. The soccer field is located near a park and among the injured and dead are children and teenagers between the ages of 10 and 20.
Initial IDF investigations show that the air defense system had difficulty intercepting the rocket. The incident is under investigation. Earlier, on Saturday evening at 5:55 p.m., a volley of about 10 rockets was fired from Lebanon toward Neve Ativ, the IDF reported. All rockets fell in open areas and no injuries were reported.
At 5:24 p.m., around 30 rockets were seen crossing Lebanon towards Israel, setting off alarms in Kiryat Shmona, Tel Hai, Margaliot and the Northern Galilee. In this case, the IDF Aerial Defense Array intercepted several projectiles, while the rest fell in open areas, causing no injuries. The attack came in response to the elimination of four Radwan Force operatives in southern Lebanon on Saturday evening.
