Hezbollah rocket fire in northern Israel: at least 9 victims, including children

At least 34 people were injured and nine were killed when a rocket hit a soccer field in the Druze town of Majdal Shams in northern Israel on Saturday afternoon. The soccer field is located near a park and among the injured and dead are children and teenagers between the ages of 10 and 20.

Initial IDF investigations show that the air defense system had difficulty intercepting the rocket. The incident is under investigation. This afternoon, in the Majdal Shams area, an attack injured 30 people, including five in critical condition and six in very serious condition, Magen David Adom reported. Police and investigators from the Northern District are now cordoning off the crash site and searching for additional debris to avoid further risk to the public. Residents of several locations in the Northern Galilee, including Nimrod, Neve Ativ, Odem, El-Rom, Merom Golan, Ein Zivan, Ortal, Sha’al, Qela Alon and Ramat Trump Heights, have been advised to stay close to shelters in accordance with military guidelines, following several rocket attacks. Additionally, the Wast and Brown junction points in the area are closed to vehicle traffic. According to the network Al-Mayadeenaffiliated with Hezbollah, reportedly fired 100 rockets in the latest rocket attack after the attack on Majdal Shams.

Earlier, on Saturday evening at 5:55 p.m., a volley of about 10 rockets was fired from Lebanon toward Neve Ativ, the IDF reported. All rockets fell in open areas and no injuries were reported.

At 5:24 p.m., around 30 rockets were seen crossing Lebanon towards Israel, setting off alarms in Kiryat Shmona, Tel Hai, Margaliot and the Northern Galilee. In this case, the IDF Aerial Defense Array intercepted several projectiles, while the rest fell in open areas, causing no injuries. The attack came in response to the elimination of four Radwan Force operatives in southern Lebanon on Saturday evening. These operatives included Naeem Ali Farhat, Ahmad Hikmat Musa, Mohammed Ali Mustafa Merish and Hassan Al-Halal Al-Saidi, Ynet reported, citing Hezbollah. This brings the total number of victims of the organization since the beginning of the conflict to 383. The investigation into the crime scene is still ongoing. This morning, Israeli negotiators transmitted to the US the “updated” proposal for a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and the release of the hostages.
