Italy disappoints, but Gattuso beats Musetti in TV ratings

Gattuso’s national team beats tennis in the TV ratings challenge on an evening in which sport was the protagonist. Here are the data from Moldova-Italy and the match between Musetti and Alcaraz

Gattuso’s Italy barely wins against Moldova on the evening which definitively certifies that they will have to go through the playoffs to go to the World Cup. He disappoints on the pitch, not in the TV ratings of a day that proposed the curious intersection (all free to air) between football and tennis. On the one hand the Azzurri engaged in Chisinau in the penultimate match of the qualifying round, on the other Lorenzo Musetti’s dream of climbing up to the semi-finals of the ATP Finals.

In front of the screen, Italy won in football, but it did not lose tennis, whose ratings continue to rise, taking full advantage of the Sinner effect. The national team match (Moldova-Italy) was followed on Rai 1 by 5,643,000 viewers with a share of 26.7%. It was the most watched program of the entire evening on Italian TV, confirming the love for the national team even in difficult moments like this.

The challenge between Musetti and Alcarazwon by the Spaniard in two sets and which ended before the national team finished, also allowing for zapping between the two events, garnered an average audience of 2,211,000 viewers (10% share) on Rai 2 to which we must add the Sky Sport faithful. The satellite TV which has exclusive rights to all matches of the ATP Finals, recorded an audience of 556,000 viewers between Sky Sport Uno and Sky Sport Tennis, a total audience figure which includes viewing on big screens and Sky Go.

A figure considered very high given the presence of the live broadcast also on digital terrestrial and the competition with the national team match. In terms of unique viewers, the Musetti-Alcaraz match reached one million and 312 thousand viewers with a share of 2.4%.
