Junhee, the “supernova” of the k-pop that is setting on the global scene

There is a moment, in the career of an artist, in which the present stops being a simple succession of dates and record releases, to transform himself into a turning point. For Junhee – leader and main voice of the ACE – that moment has already arrived. On August 14, he marked the official start of his solo adventure with Supernova, a song that turned on the streaming platforms and made himself talk about himself for the ability to combine dance-pop pulsations and an interpretative sensitivity that does not just ride the trend, but redefines it. Retro and modernity merge into a production that explodes with energy and that confirmed what fans already knew: Junhee is not just a performer, he is a narrator of emotions in music.

This debut comes after months in which the artist has multiplied his visibility globally, becoming an increasingly familiar name even outside the borders of traditional k-pop. His cover of Your Idol – cult song of the Saja Boys based on the animated film Netflix Kpop Demon Hunters – has broken the barrier of millions of views in a few hours, entering the trends and catalyzing comments from all over the world. Following, the free duet with the American singer Alexa replied success, consolidating a precise narrative: Junhee does not just interpret songs, but builds pop moments capable of living beyond streaming.

It is no coincidence that, in parallel, he founded his label, H&P Entertainment, taking on the double role of CEO and artist. A move that tells a long -term vision: to have full creative and strategic control of one’s career. In this path, the collaboration with Pan Entertainment-the same behind success of success such as The Killing Vote, Twinkling Waterline and the Netflix When Life Gives You Tangerines series-is revealing decisive to strengthen its international expansion. The album in preparation, with attention to producers such as Peter Wallevik and Daniel Davidsen (over 10 million copies sold in his career), aims to be the launching pad for a cycle of promotional activities between Korea, the United States, Europe and South America.

And it is not a study project only. In November, Junhee will inaugurate his first solo tour in the United States, a tour that collects the long wave of requests and proposals from multiple continents. An important step, which marks the passage from promise to a established presence in the global pop scene. “I want to return to the public all the affection received with music and performance that bring my sign,” he said.

His future is not a trajectory to follow, but a horizon to write. And, judging by this debut, it will do so with the light of a real supernova.

Panorama spoke exclusively with him.

Could you start by presenting and telling us how you would describe the Junhee artist in this new chapter of your career?
Hi everyone. I am Junhee and I am ready to become your only and only point of reference.

“Supernova” marks your solo pre-Rilacio: what is the story you wanted to tell through this song?
I wanted to tell the instinctive love of a man. I tried to capture that explosion of emotions, intense and almost unattainable, enclosing it in the word “supernova” to transmit all its strength.

The song combines retro and modern pop sounds: how did you find the right balance between these two worlds?
The melody and the tools already played their role perfectly. I focused on outfit, concept and choreography. By putting together all these elements, I heard that we could have created the “supernova” that I had imagined. I am happy that the result has gone beyond my expectations.

Working with the Duo of Hitmaker PHD must have been special: what was the most memorable moment of this collaboration?
Without a doubt during registration. It was a song that I wanted to play for some time and I still remember the emotion of singing it for the first time like mine. PHD is recognized worldwide as one of the best production teams, and for me it was a precious opportunity to learn a lot from them.

Your voice combines power and emotion. Is there a part of “Supernova” who put you particularly to the test as a singer?
I would say the part of the AD-LIBs. “Supernova” contains many and some lines have been really demanding both by extension and for technique. During the recording I had a time when I wondered: “I’m doing it really well …?” I even risked losing concentration for a moment.

Ace fans know you as a leader. How different is it to perform for the first time as a soloist?
Sometimes I try a little emptiness, but there is also a great freedom in being able to show myself from start to finish. I think I am still in the phase in which I am discovering my color as a solo artist. What is certain is that performing alone requires much more commitment than when we were five.

You have experienced many genres in the past. Is “Supernova” an anticipation of your future sound or just the first stage of a wider journey?
I wish that “Supernova” was seen as an appetizer. My music will continue to change and evolve. I want to publish only songs that I really love and I hope that more and more people appreciate them. These will truly represent my artistic color.

Visual narration has always been part of your art. How do you connect the visuals of “Supernova” to the message of the song?
In the video we have inserted many symbolic elements in green, a color that represents kryptonite. When I enter in contact with these objects, strange visions begin to manifest themselves; I gradually lose control and I put myself in search of someone. I continue to descend more and deeper, trapped in emotions from which I can’t free myself.

Your covers taken from K-Pop Demon Hunters They have become viral all over the world: how did this momentum influence your approach to solo debut?
First of all, I consider myself lucky for having received so much attention as an artist even before my solo debut. Thanks to this, my members on YouTube have already exceeded 100 thousand. Watching my own videos, I started reflecting on how potential I could express in solo activities. This pushes me to work every day to demonstrate that the performances I showed were not just a straw fire.

You have already performed in Italy: what is the most unforgettable memory of that stage?
It doesn’t matter how many times I am asked: my answer will always be fans. I was not there to be a tourist, but to perform for them, so it’s natural that they are my answer. I want to thank and all my affection to every Italian fan who came to the show.

Italy has a continuous growing K-Pop fanbase. How would you describe your link with Italian fans?
The mere fact that in Italy there are people who know me and love my music, although I have not come often, it is extraordinary for me. This makes my bond with Italian fans even more precious and, when I come back, I want to show them how much I missed. I also check the messages that many Italian fans send me on social media: still today it seems incredible to me.

As a founder of your agency, how did you manage yourself change the approach to music and career?
Now I face everything with more attention and seriousness. I carefully observe the contents and the media in which it appears as an artist, constantly evaluating any element can influence my image, for better or for worse. I also feel clearer the direction I want to give to my music in the future.

If “Supernova” could leave the listeners only one feeling after the first listening, which would you like it to be?
“Enjoy it”. I hope everyone can live it as they want: if they want to dance, that dance; If they want to sing, that cantino; If they want to listen to it by walking with a safe step, they do it at any time.

If I had to define yourself with a single word at this moment, what would it be and why?
“Focus”. I want to make sure that everyone focuses on me, no matter how long it will take. Somehow I feel I can succeed. And at the same time concentrating on myself, putting all my energy in this goal.
