Another disaster. After the flop in the tests also the Canada Grand Prix expresses a negative verdict For Ferrari. On the circuit dedicated to Gilles Villeneuve Russell wins with Mercedes in front of Verstappen and the young Italian Kimi Antonelli which completes the great Sunday of the German team.
The biggest elusives come from the Mc Laren and precisely from the Ferraris. Leclerc closed in fifth place, very frustrated with the strategy team, while Hamilton closed in sixth place with great problems for the car throughout the race. Leclerc, who would have liked to make a single pit stop during the race, discussed with the box, which instead opted for the double stop, for most of the race.
And, in hindsight, the nervousness of Monegasco is understandable. Leclerc was the only one together with Norris to start with the hard tires, an almost obligatory choice after the disappointment of the tests. After managing the tires in the first laps Leclerc began to take a good pace, the box decided to call him back to the garage on the twenty -sixth lap while he wanted to continue. Even with the second tire lasts Leclerc’s times were good, but the second stop was long in coming and made the Monegasque even more nervous. With Norris’ accident, Leclerc at the end recovered a position, but the strategy of a single stop that Leclerc had in mind perhaps could be the right one.
