Man tries to kidnap a little girl in a supermarket in Bergamo, arrested

A 37-year-old Romanian, homeless and with no criminal record, was arrested yesterday, Saturday 14 February 2026, by the Bergamo state police for the attempted kidnapping of a one and a half year old girl at the entrance to a supermarket in the city: in the excitement the little girl suffered a fracture of a femur. The episode occurred at 1pm, at Esselunga in via Corridoni: there the little girl and her parents were leaving when they met the Romanian at the door, who grabbed the little girl by the legs and tried to take her away. The mother held her back and the man was immediately blocked by the father and the supermarket workers.
