Contributions for families are expanding with the 30 billion euro budget in the pipeline (final approval in the Senate on Saturday 28 December). Families with ISEE within 17 thousand euros in 2025 will be able to receive 5500 euros in 2025 for the first year of a new born’s life. And if there are also sisters and brothers the amount can rise to 7 thousand euros. But what are the bonuses and contributions foreseen for parents and how do the deductions also change?

The single allowance remains unchanged, but is increased for the first year of the child’s life. In 2025, the amount will increase by 50%, exceeding 300 euros per month for families with ISEE up to 40 thousand euros. For large families, further increases are foreseen proportional to the number of children, with increases between 15% and 30%.

Card Dedicated to You: 500 euros with ISEE under 15 thousand euros

The Card Dedicated to You is confirmed, therefore 500 euros to families with an ISEE under 15 thousand euros. It can be used for food, fuel, basic necessities and public transport passes.

Mothers’ Bonus: extended to self-employed workers

The mothers bonus provides contribution relief for women with at least two children and incomes of up to 40 thousand euros. With the 2025 budget it is extended to self-employed women. Mothers with two or more children up to 10 years of age will be able to access this measure, which from 2027 will be extended up to 18 years of age for mothers with three or more children.

Parental leave: three months at 80% pay

Employed parents have three months (previously two) of parental leave paid at 80% of their salary.

New funds for school canteens and extracurricular activities

A new fund is arriving (500 thousand euros in 2025 and 2026 and 1 million from 2027) to support families in economic difficulty with the payment of primary school canteen fees. And here comes the bonus for extracurricular activities. Families with an ISEE under 15 thousand euros will be able to receive a contribution for the sporting and recreational activities of their children between 6 and 14 years old.

Private schools: more funds and the ceiling for deductions rises

The fund dedicated to pupils with disabilities in private schools is increasing: it will rise by 50 million euros in 2025 and by a further 10 million from 2026. For school expenses in private schools, parents will be able to deduct one thousand euros, compared to 800 euros now.

Tax deductions: new from 2025

The deduction system changes. It remains that up to the age of 21 the deductions are fully included in the universal single allowance. Tax deductions only for children aged 21 to 30. Over 30 years of age, deductions are available only in the case of children with certified disabilities. The maximum limits for deductions also change, based on family income and the number of dependent children. For example, with an income between 75 thousand and 100 thousand euros, the maximum limit is 14 thousand euros for families with more than two children or at least one child with a disability. Without children the ceiling drops to 7 thousand euros.
