Medical Value – Changing healthcare

A timely and updated observatory on innovation in healthcare, through the contribution of companies in the sector. Previews from Exposanità and Cosmofarma Exhibition

In a period of great transformation of the National Health Service, the Valore Medico newspaper puts the spotlight on healthcare professionals and excellence, promotes virtuous management, stimulating dialogue and discussion between the main players in the system. It is the Minister of Health Orazio Schillaci who indicates the path chosen by the Government to face the current challenges: the integration between national reference hospitals and territorial medicine; the valorization of health professionals; digitalisation and prevention. In turn, the Istituto Superiore di Sanità dictates the pace of healthcare innovation with an impact in terms of scientific contributions five times higher than the national average, as recalled by President Rocco Ballantone, illustrating the tracks on which the ISS actively moves, from rare diseases to Active Ageing. Marcello Cattani, number one of Farmindustria, indicates the priorities for the pharmaceutical industry, as does Fabio Faltoni, president of Confindustria Dispositivi Medici. One of the main characteristics of this sector is the presence of highly specialized companies, capable of combining technical skills and the ability to adapt to the market. Among these, MDE is an emblematic example of a company that has been able to grow by consistently following an industrial vision based on innovation; a reality that, in the development of precision medical instruments, adopts an approach aimed at satisfying the needs of the patient. «Thanks to advanced technologies, we create functional prototypes in extremely short times, allowing solutions to be tested and optimized almost in real time», explains founder Mario Di Cecio.

Luminaries Valore Medico outlines the goals, discoveries and most advanced treatments of scientists and luminaries. Luigi Bonavina, one of the world’s leading experts on esophageal pathologies, retraces the salient stages of his career and future goals. After the Crans-Montana massacre, Giuseppe Perniciaro, director of the IRCCS-AOM facility in Genoa, reconstructs the therapeutic path to which major burn victims are subjected. Pietro Gentile, one of the international excellences in the field of reconstructive plastic surgery, explains how the lipofilling technique is also successfully used in the treatment of post-burn scars. Antonino di Pietro, scientific director of the Vita Cutis Dermoclinic Institute in Milan, describes the evolution of dermatology, which is increasingly regenerative. Luigi Naldi updates on the progress made in dermatoepidemiology, psoriasis, inflammatory skin diseases and dermatological oncology.

The frontiers of innovation Valore Medico anticipates the contents of Exposanità 2026, taking place in Bologna from 22 to 24 April, dedicated to innovation and technologies placed at the service of clinical and organizational activity. “Health, Care, Innovation” is the payoff chosen to reflect the spirit of the programme, which will offer a complete overview of know-how, products and digital services, divided into five thematic halls. At the center there will be the theme of the use of Artificial Intelligence, together with other highly topical focuses such as the management of fragile users, disability and IT security. There will also be a preview of the 29th edition of Cosmofarma Exhibition, the annual event dedicated to the world of pharmacy, health care and beauty care which will also be held in Bologna. Among the new features stand out Cosmofarma Campus, a space specifically designed to connect the world of work with that of university, and Cosmofarma Agorà, an initiative structured around a debate between speakers and the public on the main trends and future prospects of the pharmacy sector. The magazine, which represents a prestigious showcase for many important brands (Bayer, SanaGens, BiAglut, Abiogen Pharma, Zuccari, Align Technology, Citriodol Nature’s Repellent, Clatory), talks about the organizational and entrepreneurial models of companies that contribute to medical and scientific progress, some of which will participate in the Bologna fairs. Valore Medico gives particular emphasis to excellence capable of innovative results and new therapeutic goals in the field of Neuroscience (IRCCS “Neuromed” – Mediterranean Neurological Institute, Newronika); of ophthalmology (Resono Ophthalmic); of otosurgery (Audio Technologies); of dentistry (XO CARE); medical devices (AudioNova, Dialog Ausili, Teoresi Group, Tred Medical, Ma.Pe. System, Nuova Prosan); pharmaceuticals (Logofarma, Domixtar Pharmaceutical); of aesthetic medicine (Clinica Forma and IrisCare Clinic); of herbal medicine and cosmetics (La Farmaceutica Dr. Levi, Erbagil). Doctor Maurizio Soli, director of the Immunohematology and Transfusion Medicine service of the University Hospital of Parma, illustrates to Valore Medico the importance of introducing photochemotherapy with an online method, a new technology that strengthens the therapies dedicated to transplant patients, expanding the treatment possibilities and improving the quality of the treatment path. Great space is also given in this issue to the adoption of digital. Log 80 brings its experience: for over 25 years it has supported healthcare facilities in the implementation of digital solutions aimed at optimizing clinical and organizational processes. Vertical AI Società Benefit, an innovative start-up based in Milan, applies the potential of AI to solutions with high social impact, especially in the healthcare sector. New Assistant shows how a unified infrastructure can improve efficiency, data protection and quality of service in healthcare facilities. Equally stimulating are the case histories of companies such as Sanico, which supports pharmacies, parapharmacies and ortho-health shops; AB-Global, which has been able to revolutionize the concept of jewelery in pharmacies; Medical Devices Group (MDG), which accompanies healthcare facilities in managing water risk; Chemsafe, a company expert in regulatory consultancy for the chemical-healthcare sectors; and Generali Arredamenti, main contractor specialized in the creation of environments for the healthcare and social care sectors.
