The One-Time Prize is dedicated to the memory of Koyo Kouoh, curator of the Biennale Arte di Venice, for the enhancement of African and Diasporic art
Appointment at the Manzoni Theater, last night, for the third edition of the Black Carpet Awards. The event, promoted by Afro Fashion Association with the common patronage of Milan and with the support of CNMI-National Camera of Italian fashion, celebrates the leaders of change, personality of every origin and training, which have distinguished themselves for a concrete commitment in promoting diversity, inclusion and equity within the creative industry. “In a world that often raises walls instead of breaking them down, the Black Carpet Awards want to remind us that there are voices capable of uniting instead of dividing, but above all that the representation generates access,” explained, Michelle Francine Ngonmo, founder and CEO of Afro Fashion Association, who in 2025 turned 10 years of activity, “we created the Afro Fashion Association and the Black Carpet Awards to give visibility to those who have remained invisible for a long time, offering a stage to those who only ask to be listened to. During the evening, therefore, the ten winners were announced, selected from twenty -two finalists, of the five categories of prizes of the leader of change, that is cultures, creativity, community, entergenurship and legacy. In detail, the One-Time Award was dedicated to the memory of Koyo Kouoh, curator of the Venice Art Biennale recently disappeared. The waiting godmother, the supermodel Naomi Campbell, was shown on video, while conducting the event was called Tamu McPherson, Creative and Chief of All the Pretty Birds Official, founder of Shoe Up for Justice and Bulgari’s corporate social responsibility ambassador.
