Milan, the Ztl in the quadrilateral. Here’s how not to be fined

From Monday the fashion quadrilateral becomes Ztl with fines from 83 to 332 euros. Residents and few authorized may enter, but traders report collapses up to 60%

From Monday, the Milan fashion quadrilateral becomes inaccessible or almost: the fines for those who enter with the car in the Ztl area are triggered.

If from May the initiative was experimental, therefore without sanctions, now close to the fashion week, the question changes. The cameras installed along the access gates are ready to grasp the infringements and will therefore continue with electronic sanction.

ZTL areas

The ZTL will be in operation every day, 24 hours a day, in the isolates limited by the Senate streets, Manzoni, San Damiano, Corso Monforte, via Cino del Duca. Which bordered with other areas closed to traffic, therefore the ZTL of Corso Europa and the pedestrian area enclosed between Corso Vittorio Emanuele, Piazza Duomo, Piazza San Babila, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and Piazza San Fedele. Those who commit the infringement will have to pay a fine ranging from 83 to 332 euros, as in the case of those who cross the ZTL in area C. Exceptions

The off limits area is allowed to access the residents and owners of the boxes, upon registration of the plaque on the Municipality website. Moreover, for the cars of the accompanying people of the residents or domiciled, a further registration is needed and access is allowed only for a vehicle per day. The exceptions to enter, which are few and concern only certain means, have further stakes between the request for a preventive authorization or access allowed only in certain time slots. For example, the derogations concern the vehicles dedicated to the organization of events, those for freight transport and perishable foods, the means of emergency businesses. In the case of vehicles for freight transport, the entrance is allowed only from 9 to 11 and from 20 to 1 at night, while the emergency vehicles must ask for a permit within the following 24 hours. For the customers of hotels and garages, on the other hand, reports are borne by the structures.

Trick

In the labyrinth of the ZTL areas, however there is an trick that allows access to the prohibited area: you can avoid the fine if you enter with your vehicle in a paid parking. This case, however, prevents the last minute choices and involves an annoying level of organization since the availability of any parking spaces should be verified. And it even seems to be a more difficult company than expected since no one answers on the phone to clarify the doubt. It goes without saying that any luxury shopping customers and not only could they give up the titanic company.

Paradox

If the goal is to reduce traffic and therefore pollution, the measure of the room is already a flop. To report the short circuit was the president of Montenapoleone District, Guglielmo Miani: “The traffic was reduced only to 20%,” he said, also highlighting that “the turnover of the associates collapsed up to 60%, in clear contrast to the first months of the year”. The initiative of the Municipality, as expected, has already put in difficulty the operators of luxury.
