The relationship with the Poggi, Andrea’s passion for books, the story of that August 13, 2007, the receipt of the parking lot, the interceptions. Andrea Semplio’s father talks about the son – the only investigated for the murder of Chiara Poggi – and reconstructs minute by minute the morning of the crime
“When we meet with the Poggi at the supermarket, we embrace each other and take strength, but all the others around us take a step back, move …”. Giuseppe Semplio is 72 years old and – in an interview with the weekly Today – He struggles to tell how much life changed from that February 27, when his son Andrea was investigated for the murder of Chiara Poggi, in competition with Alberto Stasi or with others.
“We will never forget that August 13”
Giuseppe still clearly remembers that Monday, August 13, 2007. Chiara was killed and their life, since then, has never been the same. He talks about the son, as he is done, of an alibi so far never told completely: the receipt of the parking lot.
Andrea’s mother, Daniela, instead prefers not to expose herself anymore. But when something escapes her, she says it with a force that leaves no room for doubts: “This thing blocks life totallyyou can’t make a program because maybe the lawyer needs you; You go out and there is what indicates with your finger, it happened in front of me: Mother and daughter passed in front of the shop where the Andrea was working, and his daughter said: “So is that guy there who killed Chiara Poggi?”and the mother nodded safe. It is as if the Andrea had already been sentenced. But My son did not kill Chiara Poggi, I’m sure a thousand per thousand. It is innocent ».
Giuseppe also returns to that dramatic day: «Andrea was with me. One day like that August 13, 2007, in which such a serious thing happened, one puts it in a drawer of the head and no longer takes it off. It’s like having cancer, you can heal completely, but you don’t forget it. Maybe that summer was even warmer than now. We woke up at 7.30 – 8 … ».
It was a morning like many others, despite being summer. Giuseppe worked as a worker and in winter he got up even before 5especially if the wife had the turn of the six at the nursing home. Even on vacation, waking up at 7.30-8 was normal. That day the two remote controls of the gate no longer worked, and the wife had to take them to the maintenance company in Gambolò. Andrea, already awake, wanted to go to the bookstore in Vigevano. They had only one car, so they decided that he would come out when the mother had returned. And in the meantime he had stayed at home with his father.
An exit in the bookstore on August 13 could seem unusual. But, as Giuseppe tells in the interview a Today, «My son is a mangialibri, he will have a thousand, and he has not a favorite, he reads everything, Economy, politics, psychology. It seems absurd, but the TV has never even wanted it to the room, I am still shelving today to put her books. He went to buy them in Vigevano from when he was a kidbut also when we arrived at the sea in Liguria, in Ceriale, first he went to the bookstore ».
Despite this passion for the study, Andrea did not continue his university studies. A not entirely desired choice, as the father explains: «To do the university it takes things, it does not depend only on the son, it also depends on the family, and we couldn’t afford itit was a displeasure. “
The newspapers had spoken of notes found in the garbagewhere Andrea would have written phrases such as: “I did so bad things that nobody can imagine”. The father denies having ever seen them, but recognizes one thing: “He always liked writing, even on the books he wrote notes”.
That morning of August 13, the remote control company was closed, as Daniela confirms. However, he had decided to go shopping, and had returned to the house at 9.50. “He remembers it because he had looked at the clock in the kitchen,” says Giuseppe. At that point Andrea had taken the keys and had gone to Vigevano.
To those who claim that, in reality, that morning that morning Daniela had gone to Vigevano from a firefighter That he attended, Giuseppe replies with confidence: “But go, even the cell phone hooked to the Gambolò cell, the technicians say it.” As for the exchanges of messages between his wife and that man, he resizes everything: “I have my friends and she has his own, and then it seems that that man also wrote to others, it was such a fact.”
The library was also closed that Monday. Feltrinelli did not open on Monday, but in those days there was a local party and Andrea hoped could be an exception. After seeing the closure, he had gone to see his grandmother. At 11.40, the mother had called him to invite him for lunch. She would then go to work at 1pm. Giuseppe and Andrea, on the other hand, had returned to the grandmother to take bottles of sauce.
Leaving, passing in front of via Pascoli, they had noticed carabinieri, barriers and red cross. They initially thought about an illness. But Andrea was agitated: Marco Poggi lived in that streethis fraternal friend. They returned back to see better. Giuseppe recalls: “There was a policeman I knew:” They killed a girl, “he told us,” La Poggi, they say that there is a scene that cannot be seen inside the house “. My son was agitated, he didn’t believe it. A boy with red hair near the barrier, I think he was a journalist, he asked him for the number of Poggi but he didn’t want to give him. He called his mom, goat and cold, but Nobody felt like calling Marco, they didn’t know if he had been warned ».
Chiara Poggi, Giuseppe says it clearly, had never seen him. But of Marco retains an affectionate memory: «He is a doll, sweet, one of those guys who in the village you remember them because they are good. They still feel with Andrea ».
Andrea and Marco knew each other from elementary school. They had never attended the oratory. “My son go to the church doesn’t even think about it, he looks like his dad,” he adds smiling. The oratory, then, was a slightly closed place. At the Sanctuary of the Bozzola they only went to Easter and Easter Monday, for the stalls.
On the accusations of participation in parties or black massesGiuseppe is clear: “But please … all fairy tales”. Even on interceptions, where Andrea seems to speak alone, he has no doubts: «Always, since he was a child, especially in the shower. He enters the bathroom, opens the water and speaks, has this habit. “
Then there is the receipt of the parking lot. A detail that the family remembers well. «That August there, Andrea had a little license and often took the car, only he never cleaned it. As I removed a sea of paper and receipts of books, candies and money, I found this parking ticket. My wife wanted to put it away carefully, because maybe he could serve since they were questioning everyone for the crime ».
During the second interrogation, in 2008, Andrea had told of the visit to Feltrinelli. They asked him if he had some evidence, and he talked about the receipt. They called him to return to the barracks, recover and deliver it. But the exact sequence of events was never reported in the minutesand for this it seems that he had brought him spontaneously, without request.
Now, Andrea is investigated for the third time. It is not clear whether there will be a process or if this time the case will be archived. The mother is afraid. «I scare the storage, maybe I would prefer a sentence, a staple. If not, maybe in seven or eight years another witness wakes up that he says he saw something. I am afraid that it never ends, that they can return to tormenting my son … ».
