Norris wins and Leclerc is world leader in second, then Verstappen

In the Mexican Grand Prix, victory for the Mc Laren driver who overtakes his teammate by just one point. Max follows at -36

Formula 1 has a new master. AND’ Lando Norris who with the victory in the Mexico City Grand Prix overtakes his Mc Laren teammate in the world drivers’ ranking when there are four races more than Sprint to go. Norris’ dominance was absolute, as could be understood from Friday’s race simulation, Lando preceded Ferrari driver Leclerc at the first corner and thwarted a desperate attempt by Verstappen who started from the third row and from that moment on he took off, without any of the other drivers being able to hope to get close to him. The time with which he preceded Leclerc at the finish line was abysmal: 38 seconds.

Two strategies

Ferrari had an excellent race with Charles Leclerc finishing in second place behind Norris. The Monegasque chose to use only one substitution, as well as Verstappen and the two of them found themselves fighting for second place in the final laps. Leclerc appeared to be in great difficulty, but was saved by the “virtual Safety car” decided due to Sainz going off the road, which effectively prevented Verstappen from attempting to overtake. Same situation experienced by Oscar Piastri towards Bearman, but in the end the Mc Laren driver limited the damage compared to his teammate even if Lando is much faster than him at the moment. Oliver Bearman’s race was extraordinary on the Haas which finished in fourth place and also satisfaction for Kimi Antonelli who for the first time finished the race ahead of his Mercedes teammate Roussell. Sixth place for Kimi while he disappointed Lewis Hamilton once again who finished eighth. In the race for the World Championship, Lando Norris is now leading with 357 points, then Piastri with 356 and then Verstappen with 321.
