The sea that saves and the sea that destroys
The novel by Lorenza Stroppa, published by Bottega Errante, is a work set between the coasts of England and Brittany, but was born from the inspiration of the Venetian sea so dear to the author. What the sea tells me It is a profound family story, which digs into memory and in feelings of guilt, with the sea to act as a silent and omnipresent protagonist: “What he kills and what he saves, the one with which to test himself and what peaceful, amniotic liquid of humanity.”
Two cities, a marine destiny
On the essay, The fate of the sea (Il Mulino), written four hands by Egidio Ivetic and Luigi Mascilli Migliorini, is a fascinating journey into the history of Naples and Venice, two cities whose link with the sea is inseparable. The book tells how the sea forged their identities, shaped the cultures, fueled the economy and projected these cities in the future: “Two cities that are born, grow and live with the sea from which they draw life, culture, history, and perhaps future.”
