Pope Leo XIV: “Never again the war”

“Never more wars. There is a right peace in Ukraine. What happens to me as happens in the Gaza Strip”. With these words, pronounced firmly during Queen Coeli in St. Peter’s Square, Pope Leone XIV has relaunched a heartfelt appeal to the international community to put an end to the ongoing conflicts.

The pontiff invoked one Right and lasting solution for Ukraineunderlining the need for a balance that respects the rights and dignity of all the peoples involved. The intervention on the Middle Eastern situation is even more incisive: “Turn on the fire immediately, humanitarian rescue of the exhausted civilian population and all the hostages are freed”he said in a visibly moved voice, referring to the dramatic crisis in progress in the Gaza Strip.

A strong intervention, full of responsibility and compassion, which confirms the line of the new Pope: A Church at the service of truth, justice and peace In a world increasingly torn by conflicts.
