Pucci gives up Sanremo for the Democratic Party. Meloni: «Frightening illiberal drift»

The comedian had been invited to the Ariston stage to host the third evening together with Carlo Conti, but the “good guys” in the situation lashed out at him: “Fascist, racist and homophobic”. La Russa: think again

Another one out. The prevailing progressive idiot has succeeded in yet another great feat of boycott and censorship. This time it is hit and sunk Andrea Puccia very successful comedian contacted by Carlo Conti to participate in Sanremo. As soon as his name came out, social networks exploded and a Pucci threats, insults and intimidation of all kinds arrived: racist, fascist, homophobic. Which is why the cabaret artist decided to give up, explaining his reasons in a heartfelt note: “My job is to make people laugh, for 35 years, but I could say forever,” he wrote. «And I have always brought the habits and customs of my country onto the stage, mocking the character aspects of men and women. Through my work I have achieved goals and objectives with the intention of giving smiles and bringing lightness to those who have always come to see my shows. The insults, threats, epithets and so on received by me and my family in recent days are incomprehensible and unacceptable. This negative media wave that involved me on the occasion of the announced participation in Sanremo, such an important event that belongs to the heart of the country, alters the fundamental pact that exists between me and the public, which is why I decided to take a step back as the conditions for practicing my profession have disappeared”.

Pucci he didn’t want to push the controversy too much, but he used interesting arguments. “At 61 years old, after what happened to me physically, I don’t feel like I have to engage in an intellectually unequal struggle that doesn’t belong to me,” he explained. «In 2026 the term fascist should no longer exist, there is the man of the right and the man of the left who think differently but who confront each other in a democratic system that fortunately governs our beloved country. Homophobia and racism are terms that highlight hatred of the human race and I have never hated anyone. I therefore wish everyone good luck Carlo Conti wishing him a successful edition and I’ll wait for you at the theatre.”

An elegant exit, on which she also expressed herself Giorgia Meloni: «It makes us think that in 2026 an artist should feel forced to give up doing his work due to the climate of intimidation and hatred that has been created around him. I express solidarity with Andrea Pucciwho decided to give up Sanremo due to the insults and threats aimed at him and his family. It is unacceptable that ideological pressure reaches the point of pushing someone to give up going on stage”, said the prime minister. «This speaks of the double standards of the left, which considers satire (including insults) sacred when it is aimed at its opponents, but calls for censorship against those who say things that the left itself does not agree with. The illiberal drift of the left in Italy is becoming frightening.”

Some might think that Pucci he was too easily intimidated, after all this is the mechanism of social media: a sigh is enough to be overwhelmed by a wave of dung and malice. The point, however, is that in this case the platforms were carefully stimulated by left-wing politics and media. When a few weeks ago the comedian announced that he would participate in Sanremo (he did so by publishing a photo of himself with his butt exposed), the Democratic Party immediately unleashed its vigilance on Rai: «Has Sanremo, like all of Rai, also become TeleMeloni? The Rai leaders explain the choice of the comedian Pucciclearly right-wing, fascist and homophobic”, wrote the Dem exponents. The newspapers mobilized accordingly, from Corriere della Sera to Republic passing through The Manifesto. In the newspaper on Via Solferino Renato Franco he wrote that «his forte are the monologues in which he tries to make people laugh about couple dynamics, drawing on a repertoire that belongs to the last century. Comedy from a heterosexual white male, from a boomer who struggles to keep the clutch (executioner whoever lets go)”. Fanpage reiterated that “Andrea Pucci in Sanremo it’s not a choice Carlo Conti: no vax, homophobic jokes, openly on the right.” Others remembered one of his jokes about Schlein (defined as a cross between Alvaro Vitali And Pippo Franco).

Real: Pucci he is right-wing (but certainly not fascist). Sometimes he is vulgar, but for the most part he stays very far from politics in his monologues. Unlike the vast majority of comedians who have been invited to the Ariston over the years, and have taken advantage of it to attack this or that politician, as well as some truly discriminated against categories, including the infamous anti-vaxers. So there’s no point in beating around the bush: the humorous end Zero limestone sponsor of the social center hammerers can be applauded and revered, the right-handed comedian is not welcome. Governments change but not vice. And for the umpteenth time we have to take note of the result obtained by the gag party, the only one that wins on the left. Unless Pucciwith a great coup of theatre, you don’t think about it again as he even suggests Ignazio La Russa. Let’s hope he takes the invitation into consideration: seeing the censors get annoyed would actually be very funny.
